LabManager1 and 2<br />
<strong>Laboratory</strong> <strong>Automation</strong> <strong>Hardware</strong><br />
The LabManager1 is the standard device for lab<br />
and pilot plant stations with up to 50 interfaces.<br />
The LabManager2 can be equipped with more than<br />
a hundred interfaces. The devices are equipped<br />
with a 32 bit CPU card with a real time operating<br />
system, a battery backed-up clock, battery backedup<br />
(UPS) and specially interference-resistant<br />
CMOS RAM for the saving of parameterisation,<br />
FLASH-ROM for the operating system, PCM<br />
control programs and a watchdog switching for the<br />
hardware and software monitoring as well as a<br />
serial interface for the operator console (UI). The<br />
devices are connected to a serial interface of the<br />
UI through a file transfer cable or a fibre-optic light<br />
guide. Up to eight devices can be operated from an<br />
UI.<br />
The power saving CMOS technology hardly<br />
produces lost heat so that the devices can be run<br />
without forced ventilation. Hence, high reliability<br />
and service life are guaranteed.<br />
Assembly Options<br />
In the standard assembly of the LabManager, the<br />
interface panels form the rear panel of the device.<br />
In case the LabManager is built into a control<br />
cabinet, the interface panels can be mounted on<br />
the door, on the back or on the sides. A specific<br />
panel frame is available for this purpose (see panel<br />
frame).<br />
The robust metal case of the LabManager is<br />
suitable for free-standing arrangement and for the<br />
mounting on 19-inch control cabinets.<br />
The user interfaces for the basic device functions<br />
are placed on the front panel of the LabManager.<br />

All devices are available with standard equipment<br />
or as basic devices for individual mounting.<br />
If one needs two outlets to be supplied with a<br />
LabManager device or if little place is available on<br />
site for the connecting technique, the interface<br />
panels can be distributed on a maximum of two<br />
outstations (see outstations). In any case though,<br />
the maximum cable length should not be more<br />
than 5 m.<br />
