Laboratory Automation Hardware
Beyond the measurement value collection and
control function units, the devices also include the
most frequent process measurement and control
(PMC) components for:
 Signal input/output
 Potential Separation
 Amplifying
 Filtering
 Linearisation
 Control
 Automatic Control
 Monitoring and Reporting (Alarming)
Supply of sensors and actuators with power
External transducer, buffer amplifier etc. are not
necessary anymore. Due to the consequently
compact design of the devices, the required space is
reduced to a minimum so that they will fit in any rack
or on any lab table. If conventionally constructed, a
comparable technology would fill one or even
several control cabinets.
The possibility to mount the device directly on to the
plant represents a significant help to save costs for
project planning and cabling and allows an easy
remounting of the instrumentation.
LabManager mounted directly on the plant
Replaces multiple devices
Lab/MSR-devices resplace electronics of eg. The
controller part of multple devices or the whole
devices of regular automation units like
 Dosing devices
 Titrators
 Vaccuum stations
 Closed Loop Controllers
 Plotters
 Transducers
 Dataloggers
 Sensor-Actuator-Power Supply
Instead of connecting costly devices only a
LabManager or a LabBox and simple device
components are needed. What has been done with
extensive and costly planning is now being deliverd
with a turn-key solution in these compact devices.
The basic configuration of all Lab/MSR PIs features:
 2 point scaling/calibration for datapoints
(Inputs, Outputs,...)
Limit and warn values for all datapoints
 Manual/automatic mode for datapoints
 Integrated filter functionality: low pass,
averaging, min, max, distribution, variance
 Mathematic linearisation functions like ln,
exp, sqr, sqrt
Linearisation tables for Pt100, NiCr-Ni, Fe-
CuNi (Typ L), PtRho 10, PtRho 13, PtRho 30
integrated in the flash memory
 Device components for connections of
datapoints
 Sensor and conductor error detection
Scaling and filter functions enable an optimal
adaption to each measuring sensor.
Device Components
Device components enable a direct connection of
datapoints inside the PI. This leads to a logical
module whose in- and outputs can be connected
freely.
Available are:
Application oriented device components (opt.)
 Dosing control
 Vaccuum control
 Temperature cascade control
 pH-control
PMC Technical Functions
 PID automatic controller (optional)
 Adaptive automatic controller (optional)
 Comparator
 Ramp
 Setpoint Value Generator (profiles)
 Timer impulse
 Timer Start Delay
 Timer Falling Delay
 Scales, Thermostat, Stirrer Communication
 LabCom Communication
 Temperature Compensation
Sample & Hold (scan and hold element)
