LPS 1048 APPROVED SPRINKLER CONTRACTORS - UK AND IRELAND<br />
Supervision<br />
Where an approved Sprinkler Contractor does not meet all the criteria set out in the LPS 1048-1 scheme<br />
document to self-certificate any of the Categories of Work allowed under its approval level, it is required to<br />
have the Category (ies) of Work that it is not approved to self-certificate supervised by an LPCB approved<br />
Supervising Body or the LPCB Supervisory Service.<br />
Supervision involves a review of the design, an inspection of the installed <strong>sprinkler</strong> protection, <strong>and</strong> if <strong>water</strong><br />
supplies are included in the scope of work, witnessing of the <strong>water</strong> supply proving tests, for compliance with<br />
the installation st<strong>and</strong>ard. For supervised contracts, the LPS 1048 Certificates of Conformity is issued by an<br />
LPCB approved Supervising Body or the LPCB Supervisory Service.<br />
Details of the Categories of Work that each approved Sprinkler Contractor can self-certificate, can be found in<br />
the individual company listings.<br />
Financial assessment<br />
The assessment <strong>and</strong> listing of Sprinkler Contractors in the LPS 1048-1 scheme covers only technical <strong>and</strong><br />
quality aspects. All other contractual requirements are the responsibility of the parties to the contract.<br />
Service <strong>and</strong> maintenance<br />
Installers that undertake service <strong>and</strong> maintenance work are assessed for their capability to carry out such<br />
work in accordance with BS EN 12845 clause 20 <strong>and</strong> Technical Bulletin 203 of the LPC Rules for <strong>Automatic</strong><br />
Sprinkler Installations.<br />
