LPS 1148 APPROVED SPRINKLER CONTRACTORS - OVERSEAS
LPS 1148 is a new scheme for installers of automatic fire sprinkler systems based overseas. This scheme is
open to all Contractors operating anywhere in the World except the UK & Ireland and The Netherlands where
LPCB operates different schemes for installers of automatic sprinkler systems.
Scheme Structure
There are 4 approval levels for Sprinkler Contractors in the LPS 1148 scheme. Figure 1 below shows the
Categories of Work that are allowed to be carried out at each approval level in the LPS 1148 scheme.

Installation standard
Sprinkler contractors will be assessed for their capability to design, install, test & commission and service
(where undertaken) automatic fire sprinkler systems using their national sprinkler standard.
Important note to Specifiers
Specifiers should only use Sprinkler Contractors that are LPS 1148 approved to the appropriate level
depending on the type of sprinkler work required, refer to the individual company listings for the approval level
of Sprinkler Contractors.
Listing of Sprinkler Contractors
LPS 1148 Approved Sprinkler Contractors are listed alphabetically, regardless of their approval level.
Continual assessment
LPS 1148 approved sprinkler contractors are continually assessed for their continued capability to undertake
sprinkler contracts and for their compliance with the requirements of the LPS 1148 scheme.
Certificates of Conformity
In order to ensure that a sprinkler system is effective, specifiers should always request an LPS 1148
Certificate of Conformity. An LPS 1148 Certificate of Conformity may only be issued for a sprinkler system,
installation, extension or alteration that is in full compliance with the one of the acceptable installation
standards.
Any agreed minor deviations to the installation standard will be recorded on the LPS 1148 Certificate of
Conformity. A certificate of conformity cannot be issued if there is a major deviation to the installation
standard. It should be noted that a Sprinkler Contractor's Completion Certificate is NOT an LPS 1148
Certificate of Conformity.
