A CTIVITIES AND O RGANIZATIONS<br />
The need for new friends<br />
and new interests may<br />
be fulfilled, in part, by<br />
becoming involved in one or<br />
more of <strong>the</strong> activities, clubs, or<br />
professional organizations on<br />
campus. Fellowship, leadership<br />
opportunities, fun, and<br />
rewarding experiences come<br />
from such memberships.<br />
Combined with <strong>the</strong> formal<br />
education on campus, <strong>the</strong>se<br />
organizations help students<br />
prepare for <strong>the</strong> challenges of<br />
<strong>to</strong>morrow.<br />
Students are encouraged <strong>to</strong><br />
become active early in <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
collegiate careers and continue<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir activities throughout <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
years at <strong>Lawrence</strong> Tech.<br />
Faculty and staff members<br />
advise <strong>the</strong> clubs and organizations,<br />
and <strong>the</strong> Office of<br />
Marketing and Public Affairs<br />
offers help with publicity and<br />
reports news of activities on-<br />
sored and supported by <strong>the</strong><br />
Student Government.<br />
Student Government business<br />
is conducted twice monthly.<br />
All interested students are<br />
encouraged <strong>to</strong> attend meetings<br />
and express <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>view</strong>s.<br />
Contact <strong>the</strong> Student<br />
Government through <strong>the</strong><br />
Office of Student Activities<br />
and Recreation. The Student<br />
Government actively endorses<br />
all <strong>Lawrence</strong> Tech clubs and<br />
organizations that are beneficial<br />
<strong>to</strong> personal and scholastic<br />
achievement.<br />
The Student Government is<br />
composed of three interacting<br />
branches working in cooperation<br />
with each o<strong>the</strong>r. They are<br />
<strong>the</strong> Student Administration, <strong>the</strong><br />
Student Senate, and various<br />
committees. The Student<br />
Administration consists of a<br />
president, vice president, and<br />
treasurer, who are elected in a<br />
spring campus-wide election.<br />
A secretary and various committee<br />
chairmen are appointed<br />
by <strong>the</strong> president and approved<br />
by <strong>the</strong> Senate. Students<br />
become eligible <strong>to</strong> be members<br />
of a Student Government committee<br />
by simply attending <strong>the</strong><br />
meetings. Members of <strong>the</strong><br />
Student Senate include official<br />
representatives from each reccampus<br />
and <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> media.<br />
To be eligible <strong>to</strong> run for<br />
office in any campus organization,<br />
students must have a<br />
cumulative grade point average<br />
of at least 2.0. They will<br />
be requested <strong>to</strong> withdraw from<br />
office at <strong>the</strong> end of any semester<br />
in which <strong>the</strong>ir semester<br />
grade point average falls<br />
below 1.8. In order <strong>to</strong> hold a<br />
Student Government office, a<br />
student must maintain at least<br />
a 2.3 grade point average.<br />
Students interested in forming<br />
new organizations should contact<br />
<strong>the</strong> direc<strong>to</strong>r of Student<br />
Activities or Student<br />
Government president for<br />
assistance and for membership<br />
in <strong>the</strong> Student Government,<br />
whose approval is necessary<br />
for official recognition and<br />
funding assistance.<br />

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS<br />
Student Government – The<br />
<strong>Lawrence</strong> Tech Student<br />
Government is recognized by<br />
<strong>the</strong> University administration<br />
as <strong>the</strong> official representative<br />
for <strong>the</strong> entire student body. It<br />
offers <strong>the</strong> opportunity for students<br />
<strong>to</strong> better <strong>the</strong>mselves and<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir University through<br />
involvement in campus activities.<br />

an invitation <strong>to</strong> attend <strong>the</strong><br />
