When <strong>the</strong> recomputation is<br />
completed, only <strong>the</strong> credit<br />

attempt will be reflected in<br />

(assuming <strong>the</strong> grade received<br />

INCOMPLETE<br />
A grade of “I” is given only<br />
under extraordinary circumstances<br />
for course work that<br />
has been of satisfac<strong>to</strong>ry quality<br />
When intending <strong>to</strong> drop a<br />
course or courses or withdraw<br />
from courses, it is <strong>the</strong> student’s<br />
responsibility <strong>to</strong> notify <strong>the</strong><br />
Office of <strong>the</strong> Registrar in writand,<br />
in <strong>the</strong> judgment of <strong>the</strong><br />
instruc<strong>to</strong>r and <strong>the</strong> instruc<strong>to</strong>r’s<br />
dean, adequate <strong>to</strong> justify a reasonable<br />
extension of time. It is<br />
assigned only in cases in<br />
which <strong>the</strong> student has completed<br />
satisfac<strong>to</strong>rily <strong>the</strong> major portion<br />
of <strong>the</strong> course requirements.<br />
Students receiving an<br />
“I” may not attend <strong>the</strong> class<br />
during a succeeding semester,<br />
unless <strong>the</strong>y register for <strong>the</strong><br />
class. Instruc<strong>to</strong>rs must change<br />
an “I” <strong>to</strong> a grade o<strong>the</strong>r than<br />
“W” no later that one calendar<br />
year following <strong>the</strong> end of <strong>the</strong><br />
semester. After one year, if<br />
course requirements are not<br />
met, <strong>the</strong> “I” will be converted<br />
<strong>to</strong> “F.”<br />
GRADE CHANGES<br />
The electronic entry of grades<br />
submitted by instruc<strong>to</strong>rs at <strong>the</strong><br />
end of each semester is <strong>the</strong><br />
official record of grades.<br />
Grade changes, when necessary,<br />
are done by <strong>the</strong> instruc<strong>to</strong>r<br />
with approval of <strong>the</strong> department<br />
chairman and dean. The<br />
registrar may determine that<br />
<strong>the</strong> provost’s approval is also<br />
required in exceptional or<br />
unusual circumstances.<br />
Any disputes concerning<br />
grades must be resolved within<br />
one semester after <strong>the</strong> course<br />
was completed.<br />
AUDITING CLASSES<br />
Anyone wishing <strong>to</strong> audit a<br />
course must submit an audit<br />
request form along with <strong>the</strong><br />
regular registration forms.<br />
These forms are available in<br />
<strong>the</strong> Office of <strong>the</strong> Registrar. No<br />
credit is granted for courses<br />
that are audited. Starting with<br />
<strong>the</strong> first day of classes, a student<br />
may not change enrollment<br />
status from audit <strong>to</strong> credit<br />
or from credit <strong>to</strong> audit. Full<br />
tuition will be charged and <strong>the</strong><br />
tuition credit policy applies if<br />
<strong>the</strong> student withdraws.<br />
WITHDRAWAL<br />
FROM CLASSES<br />

BannerWeb. Drop/Add forms<br />
can be obtained from <strong>the</strong><br />
Office of <strong>the</strong> Registrar or<br />
online. The date of <strong>the</strong> drop or<br />
withdrawal will be <strong>the</strong> date<br />
that <strong>the</strong> Office of <strong>the</strong> Registrar<br />
receives <strong>the</strong> completed<br />
Drop/Add form from <strong>the</strong> student<br />
or <strong>the</strong> date that <strong>the</strong> student<br />
drops <strong>the</strong> course(s) on<br />
BannerWeb.<br />
Students who are unable <strong>to</strong><br />
drop or withdraw from courses<br />
in person or with my.ltu.edu<br />
BannerWeb may do so by<br />
mailing or faxing a written<br />
notice <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Office of <strong>the</strong><br />
Registrar that includes <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
student ID number and signature.<br />
Students may also deposit<br />
forms in <strong>the</strong> Drop Box, located<br />
outside of <strong>the</strong> Student Service<br />
Center. To protect students’<br />
right <strong>to</strong> privacy, drops and<br />
withdrawals may not be conducted<br />
by telephone or e-mail.<br />
Within certain time limits,<br />
full tuition adjustments may be<br />
made <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> students’ financial<br />
account. Be aware that <strong>the</strong>re<br />
are times when students<br />
receive no tuition credit/refund<br />
for dropped courses. Official<br />
Drop/Add dates for each<br />
semester are available online<br />
on BannerWeb my.ltu.edu and<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>Lawrence</strong> Tech website. It<br />
is <strong>the</strong> student’s responsibility<br />
<strong>to</strong> know <strong>the</strong>se dates and adhere<br />
<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>m.<br />
It is important <strong>to</strong> note that<br />
exceptions <strong>to</strong> University policy<br />
are made only in rare circumstances,<br />
such as a debilitating<br />
illness. Requests made because<br />
of difficult work schedules or<br />
class schedules will not be<br />
considered.<br />
