A DMISSION TO THE U NIVERSITY<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir high school principal and<br />
<strong>Lawrence</strong> Tech’s Office of<br />
Admissions, and submit <strong>the</strong><br />
following:<br />
1. A completed application for<br />
admission and <strong>the</strong> nonrefundable<br />
fee;<br />
2. Official high school transcript;<br />
3. A completed <strong>Lawrence</strong> Tech<br />
application supplement for<br />
high school students<br />
(request from <strong>the</strong> <strong>Lawrence</strong><br />
Tech Office of Admissions).<br />
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT<br />
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS<br />
International students must<br />
have above average grades in<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir secondary and post-secondary<br />
academic course work.<br />
The following items must be<br />
submitted <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Office of<br />
Admissions at least two<br />
months before <strong>the</strong> desired<br />
semester of enrollment:<br />
1. Completed application for<br />
admission signed by <strong>the</strong><br />
student, and non-refundable<br />
fee in U.S. currency;<br />
2. Certified true copies of<br />
original academic transcripts.<br />
The certified true<br />
copies of <strong>the</strong> academic transcripts<br />
must be submitted <strong>to</strong><br />
World Education Services<br />
(WES) for a course by<br />
course evaluation. The<br />
website www.wes.org provides<br />
important information.<br />
3. Evidence of English<br />
proficiency;<br />
4. An Affidavit of Support<br />
(for F-1 Visa holders);<br />
5. An F-1 transfer clearance<br />
form (for F-1 students transferring<br />
from a U.S. college<br />
or university);<br />
6. Foreign address.<br />
TRANSFERS WITHIN THE<br />
UNIVERSITY/INTERRUPTION<br />
OF STUDIES<br />
An interruption of studies<br />
occurs when a student does not<br />
attend classes for a full semester<br />
or more without special<br />
permission. Readmission is not<br />
au<strong>to</strong>matic; admission policies<br />
and academic programs in<br />
place at <strong>the</strong> time of readmission<br />
will apply.<br />
Students who have interrupted<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir studies for more<br />
than three calendar years must<br />
submit a new application <strong>to</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> Admissions office and will<br />
be subject <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> curricula and<br />
requirements of <strong>the</strong> chosen<br />
program upon <strong>the</strong>ir return.<br />
Students may reapply<br />
through <strong>the</strong> Office of <strong>the</strong><br />
Registrar under <strong>the</strong> following<br />
conditions:<br />
1. returning within three<br />
calendar years;<br />
2. academically eligible <strong>to</strong><br />
return;<br />
3. returning <strong>to</strong> an undergraduate<br />
degree program.<br />
Students must reapply<br />
through <strong>the</strong> Office of Admissions,<br />
and pay <strong>the</strong> application<br />
fee, under <strong>the</strong> following<br />
conditions:<br />
1. returning after more than<br />
three calendar years;<br />
2. beginning a new degree<br />
program after graduation<br />
from <strong>Lawrence</strong> Tech;<br />
3. academically ineligible <strong>to</strong><br />
return (suspended, dismissed);<br />
in this case <strong>the</strong><br />
student must also seek read<br />
mission from <strong>the</strong> Academic<br />
Standing Committee.<br />
CHANGE OF MAJORS<br />
Currently enrolled students<br />
desiring <strong>to</strong> change majors<br />
within <strong>the</strong>ir College (example:<br />
mechanical engineering <strong>to</strong><br />
electrical engineering) do not<br />
need <strong>to</strong> reapply for admission.<br />
Students should contact <strong>the</strong><br />
dean of <strong>the</strong>ir College and submit<br />
<strong>the</strong> appropriate change of<br />
curriculum form <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Office<br />
of <strong>the</strong> Registrar.<br />
RETURNING ALUMNI<br />
<strong>Lawrence</strong> Tech alumni may<br />
enroll in courses for which<br />
prerequisites have been met<br />
without reapplying for admission.<br />
If ano<strong>the</strong>r degree is<br />
desired, alumni must submit a<br />
completed application for<br />
admission and <strong>the</strong> non-refundable<br />
fee <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Office of<br />
Admissions and must meet<br />
normal admission requirements.<br />
The fee is waived for<br />
graduates applying <strong>to</strong> a master’s<br />
program.<br />
ADMISSIONS ADVISING<br />
AND TOURS<br />
The Office of Admissions is<br />
open year-round (except holidays).<br />
Admissions counselors<br />
are available on a walk-in<br />
basis on weekdays. Students<br />
are encouraged <strong>to</strong> contact <strong>the</strong><br />
Office of Admissions with<br />
any questions, if <strong>the</strong>y require<br />
additional information, if<br />
<strong>the</strong>y would like <strong>to</strong> schedule a<br />
<strong>to</strong>ur of <strong>the</strong> campus, or if <strong>the</strong>y<br />
wish <strong>to</strong> observe classes,<br />
