tion of <strong>the</strong> Student Code. The<br />
dean of students shall develop<br />
policies for <strong>the</strong> administration<br />
of <strong>the</strong> judicial program and<br />
procedural rules for <strong>the</strong> conduct<br />
of hearings that are not<br />
inconsistent with provisions of<br />
<strong>the</strong> Student Code.<br />
3. Decisions made by <strong>the</strong><br />
Student Discipline Committee<br />
and/or a University official<br />
designated by <strong>the</strong> dean of students<br />
shall be final, pending<br />
<strong>the</strong> normal appeal process.<br />
4. The Student Discipline<br />
Committee may be designated<br />
as arbiter of disputes within<br />
<strong>the</strong> student community in<br />
cases that do not involve a violation<br />
of <strong>the</strong> Student Code. All<br />
parties must agree <strong>to</strong> arbitration<br />
and <strong>to</strong> be bound by <strong>the</strong><br />
decision with no right of<br />
appeal.<br />
C. Regulations for Student<br />
Conduct<br />
Acts of academic dishonesty<br />
are regulated by procedures<br />
outlined in <strong>the</strong> Academic<br />
Honor Code. Any student<br />
found <strong>to</strong> have committed <strong>the</strong><br />
following misconduct is subject<br />
<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> disciplinary sanctions<br />
outlined in Section G:<br />
1. Acts of dishonesty, including<br />
but not limited <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> following:<br />
furnishing false information<br />
<strong>to</strong> any University official,<br />
faculty member or office;<br />
forgery; alteration or misuse of<br />
any University document,<br />
record, or instrument of identification;<br />
helping or attempting<br />
<strong>to</strong> help ano<strong>the</strong>r student commit<br />
an act of dishonesty; tampering<br />
with <strong>the</strong> election of any<br />
University-recognized student<br />
organization.<br />
2. Disruption or obstruction of<br />
teaching, research, administration,<br />
disciplinary proceedings,<br />
o<strong>the</strong>r University activities,<br />
including its public-service<br />
functions on or off campus or<br />
o<strong>the</strong>r authorized non-<br />
University activities, when<br />
<strong>the</strong> act occurs on University<br />
premises.<br />
3. Physical abuse, verbal<br />
abuse, threats, intimidation,<br />
harassment, coercion, stalking,<br />
and hate crimes or acts that are<br />
racially motivated or due <strong>to</strong><br />
one’s sexual orientation, gender<br />
expression, and/or o<strong>the</strong>r<br />
conduct, that threatens or<br />
endangers <strong>the</strong> health or safety<br />
of any person.<br />
4. Attempted or actual <strong>the</strong>ft of<br />
and/or damage <strong>to</strong> property of<br />
<strong>the</strong> University or property of a<br />
member of <strong>the</strong> University<br />
community or o<strong>the</strong>r personal<br />
or public property.<br />
5. Hazing, defined as an act<br />
that endangers <strong>the</strong> mental or<br />
physical health or safety of a<br />
student, for <strong>the</strong> purpose of initiation,<br />
admission in<strong>to</strong>, affiliation<br />
with, or as a condition for<br />
continued membership in a<br />
group or organization.<br />
6. Failure <strong>to</strong> comply with<br />
directions of University officials<br />
or law enforcement officers<br />
acting in performance of<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir duties and/or failure <strong>to</strong><br />
identify oneself <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>se persons<br />
when requested <strong>to</strong> do so.<br />
7. Unauthorized possession,<br />
duplication, or use of keys <strong>to</strong><br />
any University premises or<br />
unauthorized entry <strong>to</strong> or use of<br />
University premises.<br />
8. Violation of published<br />
University policies, rules, or<br />
regulations.<br />
9. Violation of federal, state, or<br />
local law on University premises<br />
or at University-sponsored<br />
or supervised activities.<br />
10. Use, possession, or distribution<br />
of narcotics or o<strong>the</strong>r<br />
controlled substances, except<br />
as expressly permitted by law;<br />
use or possession of drug paraphernalia.<br />
11. Use, possession, or distribution<br />
of alcoholic beverages,<br />
except as expressly permitted<br />
by <strong>the</strong> law and University regulations,<br />
or public in<strong>to</strong>xication.<br />
12. Possession of firearms,<br />
explosives, any object that by<br />
its intended or actual use may<br />
be used <strong>to</strong> threaten or harm<br />
people or damage or destroy<br />
property, or o<strong>the</strong>r weapons or<br />
dangerous chemicals on<br />
University premises.<br />
13. Participation in a campus<br />
demonstration that disrupts <strong>the</strong><br />
normal operations of <strong>the</strong><br />
University and infringes on <strong>the</strong><br />
rights of o<strong>the</strong>r members of <strong>the</strong><br />
University community; leading<br />
or inciting o<strong>the</strong>rs <strong>to</strong> disrupt<br />
scheduled and/or normal activities<br />
within any campus building<br />
or area; intentional<br />
obstruction that unreasonably<br />
interferes with freedom of<br />
movement, ei<strong>the</strong>r pedestrian or<br />
vehicular, on campus.<br />
14. Obstruction of <strong>the</strong> free<br />
flow of pedestrian or vehicular<br />
traffic on University premises<br />
or at University-sponsored<br />
or supervised functions, or<br />
violation of any regulations<br />
outlined in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Lawrence</strong><br />
Tech Parking and Traffic<br />
Regulations booklet.<br />
15. Conduct which is disorderly,<br />
lewd, or indecent, breach of<br />
<strong>the</strong> peace; or aiding, abetting,<br />
or procuring ano<strong>the</strong>r person <strong>to</strong><br />
breach <strong>the</strong> peace on University<br />
premises or at functions sponsored,<br />
or participated in, by <strong>the</strong><br />
University.<br />
16. Theft or o<strong>the</strong>r abuse of<br />
computer time, including but<br />
not limited <strong>to</strong>: unauthorized<br />
entry in<strong>to</strong> a file <strong>to</strong> use, read,<br />
change, or delete <strong>the</strong> contents<br />
or for any o<strong>the</strong>r purpose; unauthorized<br />
transfer of a file;<br />
unauthorized use of ano<strong>the</strong>r<br />
individual’s identification and<br />
password; use of computing<br />
facilities <strong>to</strong> interfere with <strong>the</strong><br />
work of ano<strong>the</strong>r student, faculty<br />
member, or University official;<br />
use of computing facilities<br />
<strong>to</strong> send intentionally<br />
obscene or abusive messages;<br />
use of computing facilities <strong>to</strong><br />
interfere with normal operation<br />
of <strong>the</strong> University computing<br />
