forth in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Catalog</strong>. Any<br />

student required <strong>to</strong> take<br />

Basic Studies courses<br />

(course level zero) will<br />

receive credit hours and<br />

grade points for such<br />

courses, but <strong>the</strong> credit hours<br />

earned for <strong>the</strong>se Basic<br />

Studies courses will not be<br />

included in <strong>the</strong> <strong>to</strong>tal hours<br />

required for graduation;<br />

• Attainment of a minimum<br />

grade point average of 2.00<br />

in all credit hours earned at<br />

<strong>Lawrence</strong> Tech;<br />

• Completion of <strong>the</strong> last two<br />

semesters of work for a<br />

degree at <strong>Lawrence</strong> Tech:<br />

For Associate degrees this is<br />

a minimum of 24 credit hours,<br />

including 12 hours in <strong>the</strong> specialty<br />

courses of <strong>the</strong> chosen<br />

curriculum;<br />

For Bachelor of Science and<br />

Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees<br />

this is a minimum of 30 credit<br />

hours, including 14 hours in<br />

<strong>the</strong> student’s major;<br />

• Submission of a Petition for<br />

Graduation approximately<br />

one year preceding <strong>the</strong> date<br />

of expected graduation.<br />

petition due dates. A<br />

new petition must be submitted<br />

in <strong>the</strong> event requirements<br />

for graduation are not completed<br />

obligations <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> University.<br />

• Successful completion of<br />

<strong>the</strong> writing proficiency<br />

examination.<br />

Fur<strong>the</strong>r requirements – The<br />

minimum expectation for <strong>the</strong><br />

successful completion of art,<br />

architecture, and interior<br />

design studio course work in<br />

<strong>the</strong> College of Architecture<br />

and Design necessitates that<br />

for every hour of in-class studio<br />

time per week, an equal<br />

amount of course hours of outside<br />

work be devoted <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

accomplishment of studio and<br />

studio related course projects<br />

and assignments.<br />

Technical and non-technical<br />

electives appropriate for each<br />

curriculum will be defined by<br />

<strong>the</strong> major departments concerned.<br />

They will also define<br />

<strong>the</strong> permissible distribution of<br />

<strong>the</strong>se electives among humanities,<br />

<strong>the</strong> student’s major field,<br />

cognate fields, and o<strong>the</strong>rs.<br />

Degree/Diploma Honors –<br />

Diploma honors will be granted<br />

<strong>to</strong> degree recipients on <strong>the</strong><br />

basis of <strong>the</strong> student’s record<br />

for all course work in <strong>the</strong><br />

degree program at <strong>Lawrence</strong><br />

Tech. Only courses taken at<br />

<strong>the</strong> University qualify for<br />

honor point credits.<br />

The words Cum Laude will<br />

be inscribed on <strong>the</strong> diploma<br />

provided <strong>the</strong> graduate has<br />

earned a grade point average<br />

of at least 3.25. The words<br />

Magna Cum Laude will be<br />

inscribed if <strong>the</strong> graduate has<br />

earned a grade point average<br />

of at least 3.50. The words<br />

Summa Cum Laude will be<br />

inscribed if <strong>the</strong> graduate has<br />

earned a grade point average<br />

of at least 3.75.<br />

For Associate degrees, a<br />

transfer student must have<br />

completed a minimum of 30<br />

semester hours at <strong>Lawrence</strong><br />

Tech <strong>to</strong> be eligible for diploma<br />

honors.<br />

For Bachelor’s degrees, a<br />

transfer student must have<br />

completed a minimum of 60<br />

semester hours at <strong>Lawrence</strong><br />

Tech <strong>to</strong> be eligible for diploma<br />

honors.<br />
