GRADES FOR<br />

COURSES DROPPED<br />

Students who drop a course<br />

during <strong>the</strong> first two (2) weeks<br />

of classes during <strong>the</strong> fall or<br />

spring semester will receive a<br />

“Drop” on <strong>the</strong>ir Registration<br />

Form and no grade will appear<br />

on <strong>the</strong>ir transcript.<br />

Students who withdraw<br />

from a course before <strong>the</strong> 13th<br />

week of <strong>the</strong> fall or spring<br />

semester but after <strong>the</strong> first two<br />

weeks of classes will receive<br />

<strong>the</strong> “W” grade.<br />

The last day <strong>to</strong> withdraw<br />

from summer semesters and<br />

short courses within <strong>the</strong> regular<br />

fall and spring semester is<br />

adjusted for <strong>the</strong> shorter time<br />

After <strong>the</strong> last date <strong>to</strong> withdraw<br />

for any semester, students<br />

will not be permitted <strong>to</strong><br />

withdraw from <strong>the</strong> course<br />

and will receive a grade as<br />

determined by <strong>the</strong> instruc<strong>to</strong>r<br />

(not a “W”).<br />

All withdrawals or drops<br />

must be initiated by student<br />

action <strong>to</strong> assure that a “W”<br />

will appear on <strong>the</strong> master<br />

grade roster and subsequent<br />

transcripts. Faculty may not<br />

initiate withdrawal procedures<br />

nor may <strong>the</strong>y submit a “W” on<br />

<strong>the</strong> electronic grade entry.<br />

schedules for each semester<br />

may be obtained from <strong>the</strong><br />

Office of <strong>the</strong> Registrar and are<br />

available on www.ltu.edu.<br />

SCHEDULE OF CLASSES<br />

Programs for regular students<br />

are outlined in this<br />

<strong>Undergraduate</strong> <strong>Catalog</strong>. Class<br />

schedules giving <strong>the</strong> particular<br />

days and <strong>the</strong> hours of <strong>the</strong> various<br />

classes are made available<br />

during registration for each<br />

semester online at www.ltu.edu<br />

and my.ltu.edu BannerWeb.<br />

GRADE REPORTS<br />

Grades are available at <strong>the</strong><br />

end of each semester online<br />

through my.ltu.edu Banner-<br />

Web. Report cards are mailed<br />

only upon student request <strong>to</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Office of <strong>the</strong> Registrar. It is<br />

<strong>the</strong> student’s responsibility <strong>to</strong><br />

seek <strong>the</strong>ir grades at <strong>the</strong> end of<br />

each semester.<br />

CHANGE OF CLASS SCHEDULE<br />

Beginning <strong>the</strong> first day of<br />

classes, students may change<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir schedule by use of <strong>the</strong><br />

Drop/Add form or online via<br />

my.ltu.edu, BannerWeb.<br />

The student is responsible<br />

for submitting Drop/Add<br />

forms directly <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Office of<br />

<strong>the</strong> Registrar and retaining <strong>the</strong><br />

validated student copy. Classes<br />

must be added during <strong>the</strong> first<br />

two weeks of classes.<br />

All changes <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> student’s<br />

schedule are effective on <strong>the</strong><br />

date conducted via BannerWeb<br />

or <strong>the</strong> date <strong>the</strong> Office of <strong>the</strong><br />

Registrar receives <strong>the</strong> form.<br />

Students are not permitted <strong>to</strong><br />

attend courses without being<br />

officially registered.<br />

ATTENDANCE<br />

Class attendance records of<br />

students are kept by all members<br />

of <strong>the</strong> faculty. The consequences<br />

of absenteeism will be<br />

determined by <strong>the</strong> instruc<strong>to</strong>r<br />

and will reflect his/her policy<br />

and judgment with respect <strong>to</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> effect of attendance on <strong>the</strong><br />

student’s final grade.<br />

PREREQUISITES<br />

Students are responsible for<br />

successfully completing prerequisite<br />

courses listed in this<br />

<strong>Catalog</strong> or in <strong>the</strong> my.ltu.edu<br />

Online <strong>Catalog</strong> for all courses<br />

in which <strong>the</strong>y are registered. In<br />

those exceptional circumstances<br />

where a prerequisite<br />

may be waived, <strong>the</strong> student<br />

must complete <strong>the</strong> Prerequisite<br />

Waiver Form and submit it <strong>to</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> department head or dean of<br />

<strong>the</strong> college offering <strong>the</strong> course.<br />

If a prerequisite is waived, it is<br />

for one semester only and does<br />

not exempt <strong>the</strong> student from<br />

taking <strong>the</strong> waived prerequisite<br />

in <strong>the</strong> future.<br />

A student who is determined<br />

<strong>to</strong> have enrolled in a course<br />

without required prerequisites<br />

or an authorized waiver, may<br />

be required <strong>to</strong> withdraw at<br />

any time during <strong>the</strong> semester<br />

and will forfeit tuition and<br />

fees according <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> normal<br />

University tuition credit<br />

policy.<br />

MID-TERM STATUS<br />

The University pays close<br />

attention <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> academic<br />

progress of students through<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir course work. An examination<br />

of a student’s record<br />

occurs during <strong>the</strong> midway<br />

point of <strong>the</strong> semester. Students<br />

having difficulty in courses are<br />

encouraged <strong>to</strong> seek assistance<br />

early from <strong>the</strong> faculty member<br />

teaching <strong>the</strong> course or <strong>to</strong> take<br />

advantage of <strong>the</strong> wide range of<br />

tu<strong>to</strong>rial and o<strong>the</strong>r assistance<br />

available through <strong>the</strong> Dean of<br />

Students.<br />
