WITH WET MEDIA<br />

<strong>the</strong> study of architectural<br />
en<strong>to</strong>urage and its support of scale.<br />
The use of natural light, aspects of<br />
reflection and <strong>the</strong> interplay of<br />
light and shadow are emphasized.<br />

ART3123 ARCHITECTURAL<br />
PHOTOGRAPHY<br />
Prerequisite: ART3023.<br />
Architecture and pho<strong>to</strong>graphy<br />
have much in common; playing<br />
on our senses through motion and<br />
containment, through our sense of<br />
time and sense of place, and<br />
through memory. Projects investigate<br />
<strong>the</strong> relationship between<br />
architecture and pho<strong>to</strong>graphy,<br />
specifically addressing <strong>the</strong> interconnectedness<br />
of perception,<br />
space, scale, and his<strong>to</strong>ry. Through<br />
<strong>the</strong> syn<strong>the</strong>sis of materials and<br />
presentation, students translate<br />
ideas and meaning as <strong>the</strong>y might<br />
relate <strong>to</strong> current issues within<br />

ART3133 INDUSTRIAL<br />
ILLUSTRATION<br />
Prerequisite: Junior standing or<br />

of transportation vehicles,<br />
products and furniture. Quick<br />
sketching and detailed design<br />
hand drawing are utilized.<br />
Computer imagery and hand<br />
drawing are explored, as well as a<br />
variety of media including marker,<br />
gouache, tempera and airbrush,<br />
both in sketch and detailed format.<br />

ART3213 SCULPTURE<br />
Prerequisites: ARC1133,<br />
ARC1223. Exploration of his<strong>to</strong>rical<br />
and contemporary techniques<br />
and opportunities available <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
architect/artist <strong>to</strong> sharpen senses<br />
of proportion, scale, sequence,<br />
and sculptural structure through<br />
modeling, carving and casting<br />
processes. Both representational<br />
and abstract works in clay,<br />
plaster, wire, wood, plastic, and<br />
related materials are considered.<br />

exposure <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> nature of color<br />
composition and planning for<br />

DESIGN<br />

Junior/Senior standing. A comprehensive<br />

portfolio in illustration and<br />
design. Under close supervision,<br />
students prepare portfolios which<br />
are analyzed for content and presentation.<br />
Emphasis on visual and<br />
verbal techniques of presentation,<br />
business practices/communication,<br />
<strong>the</strong> inter<strong>view</strong> and fair practice<br />
agreements in <strong>the</strong> profession.<br />

Exploration of <strong>the</strong> interactive<br />
aspects of graphic design for<br />

media are explored with a focus<br />
on <strong>view</strong>er interface and interaction.<br />
Students critique Web design<br />
from existing sites, and display<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir design portfolios on a<br />
Website <strong>the</strong>y create. Lect. 1 hr.,<br />

ART3513 GRAPHIC DESIGN 2<br />
Prerequisite: ART2523 or<br />
Department permission. Graphics<br />
in <strong>the</strong> form of illustrations and<br />

of graphic design.<br />
Creating and preparing visual<br />
imagery for <strong>the</strong>ir application in<br />
graphic communication in print<br />
and digital media. Projects utilize<br />
current graphic design technology<br />
<strong>to</strong> manipulate and create graphics<br />
in <strong>the</strong> form of s<strong>to</strong>ck art, digital<br />
pho<strong>to</strong>graphy, informational graphics,<br />
digital illustrations, car<strong>to</strong>ons<br />
and time based graphics (animation.).<br />

and elements of contemporary<br />
motion graphics for broadcast,<br />
web animation, architectural presentation,<br />
environmental art and<br />
film titles. Strategies and techniques<br />
of graphic s<strong>to</strong>rytelling, <strong>to</strong><br />
develop ideas and structures, and<br />
design <strong>the</strong> surface of <strong>the</strong> motion.<br />
A secondary goal is <strong>to</strong> investigate<br />
<strong>the</strong> new digital <strong>to</strong>ols <strong>to</strong> understand<br />
<strong>the</strong> practice of producing motion<br />
design for service-industry studios.<br />
The computer is used as <strong>the</strong><br />
primary design <strong>to</strong>ol. Focuses on<br />
active exploration of <strong>the</strong> use of<br />
different kinds of digital graphic<br />
<strong>to</strong>ols in all phases of <strong>the</strong> motion<br />
