TII: Define what success means to you?
What are the secrets for success?
I feel success is managing your role and
goals in an organization. The key quality
should be leadership - the ability to be the
visionary for the people who are working
under you.
I have felt successful when I have
delivered more than the company expected
out of me and when my team members have
worked with passion.
My success is also measured by my
principals who look at me as a great partner
and my competitors feel my presence all
around them.
TII: How do you measure your own
performance?
I analyze my performance with my own
benchmarks.
TII: What are you contributing to your
organisation?
I believe I bring in a lot of revenue for the
company with good profits, huge growth,
and a team that’s motivated as a professional
customer centric team.
TII: What do you consider your biggest
achievement?
Now I feel that I am at the right place, where
“
i feel success
role and goals in an
organization. The
key quality should be
leadership - the ability
to be the visionary for
the people who are
”
I have freedom to put all my learning and
creative ideas into practice and see the results.
TII: What was your most difficult career
challenge and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge I faced was when
we relocated from India to UAE. The
market situation and working style was
totally different here compared to India.
It took me some time to study the market
and adapt.
TII: What is your vision for the
company?
To drive LS2 towards being a major
distribution company for the consumer
products in the Middle East. Someone has
said, “Vision without action is a daydream
and action without vision is a nightmare.”
TII: How would you describe your
working style?
I am very thorough with good management
skills and am a team player which is vital
to any organization if you want to achieve
your goals.
TII: What kinds of people do you like
working with?
Those who are disciplined, aggressive and
more importantly, people who have strong
ethical values.
TII: How did you deal with racism in
your working career?
What I believe is that if one tries to
understand other people, you won’t
encounter any discrimination. Personally I
feel if you are friendly with your colleagues
from different cultures, the differences take
a back seat.
TII: What advice would you give to
aspiring young professionals?
There is no shortcut for success in life. You
have to put in maximum effort, be focused
and try and achieve goals in small chunks.
The victories are usually small but frequent.
TII: What are your strengths?
To be able to build teams, customer
relations and interpersonal skills – these
are my strengths.
TII: What is your greatest weakness?
I need to think hard about this….but
seriously, I think it is tough to be ethical in
this cut throat market.
TII: What is your passion in life?
I enjoy my work, driving good cars and
spending time in my garden.
Rajiv Srivastava (centre) with his office colleagues: Be a team player
TII: What are your views on India and
its future, its place in the world arena?
India was and is a great place in the world
today. But we are yet to see the best of
India. I am confident that we will be the
one of the top five countries in the world
in another decade.
