(2000) and, with Eckhardt �uchs, Across Cultural Borders:<br />
Historiography in Global Perspective (2002). As well as editing the<br />
Bulletin of the GHIL, he is on the editorial committee of European<br />
Review of History. Revue Européene d’Histoire.<br />
European Lieux de Mémoire<br />
The <strong>German</strong> <strong>Historical</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>London</strong> is currently planning a<br />
closed conference on European Lieux de Mémoire, to be held at<br />
Cumberland Lodge, Windsor Great Park, 5–7 July 2002. We intend to<br />
discuss Pierre Nora’s model Lieux de Mémoire and its possible transfer<br />
to a European context. In the first section of the conference we will<br />
debate the theoretical and methodological problems of existing<br />
national projects. The �rench, <strong>German</strong>, Italian, Dutch, and Austrian<br />
publications will be introduced by their respective editors. Of course,<br />
the British perspective will also be taken into account. Each presentation<br />
will be accompanied by a commentary. In the second section<br />
we plan to investigate European Lieux de Mémoire taking an example<br />
