ANDREAS �AHRMEIR was a Research �ellow at the GHIL from
1997 to 2001. The project he conducted while at the Institute, entitled
‘Das Stadtbürgertum einer �inanzmetropole: Untersuchungen zur
Corporation of the City of London und ihres Court of Aldermen,
1688–1900’, has been accepted as a Habilitationsschrift by the history
faculty of the University of �rankfurt/Main. He is the author of
Citizens and Aliens: �oreigners and the Law in Britain and the German
States, 1789–1870 (2000). He is now a consultant with McKinsey &
Company.
