ANNUAL GOVERNANCE STATEMENT<br />

9. Governance issues which the Council considers are sufficiently significant to be set out in<br />

this statement:<br />

a) Business Continuity<br />

Planning (BCP)<br />

Each department is required to produce<br />

an up to date and robust BCP which, in<br />

turn, will feed into the Corporate BCP.<br />

Directors are required to give an annual<br />

assurance that their BCPs are suitable<br />

and sufficient, and have been validated.<br />

b) Procurement The Council is now using North West<br />

Construction Hub frameworks and the<br />

Local Education Partnership for its capital<br />

programme construction projects and will<br />

tender for its own low spend frameworks<br />

in <strong>2012</strong>.<br />

c) Project Management To review the Council’s project<br />

management arrangements.<br />

d) Council Constitution Review and revise Council’s Constitution<br />

and scheme <strong>of</strong> Delegation to ensure that<br />

they remain up to date.<br />

2. Integrated<br />

Children’s S<strong>of</strong>tware<br />

The development <strong>of</strong> the Governance<br />

Strategy will continue in <strong>2012</strong>/13. Embed<br />

and monitor training. Review and update<br />

all policies and schemes.<br />

Strengthen system for the transfer <strong>of</strong> data<br />

to other organisations and cleanse<br />

existing data to comply <strong>with</strong> Data<br />

Protection Act.<br />

We propose over the coming year to take steps to address the above matters to further enhance our<br />

governance arrangements. We are satisfied that these steps will address the need for improvements that<br />

were identified in our review <strong>of</strong> effectiveness and will monitor their implementation and operation as part<br />

<strong>of</strong> our next annual review.<br />
