Ixico, a world-class medical imag<strong>in</strong>g company has won<br />

a signifi<strong>can</strong>t fund<strong>in</strong>g amount of £2.1 million from the<br />

Biomedical Catalyst Fund<br />

• The London-based medical imag<strong>in</strong>g company Ixico and the British<br />

developer of neuropsychological tests, Cambridge Cognition were<br />

awarded a grant from the Biomedical Catalyst Fund <strong>in</strong> November<br />

2012.<br />

• Ixico will work alongside Cambridge Cognition, a lead<strong>in</strong>g UK<br />

developer of neuropsychological tests, and their projected partners at<br />

K<strong>in</strong>g’s College London, University of Sussex and Imperial College<br />

London.<br />

• The grant will fund a project to build and test a novel digital <strong>healthcare</strong><br />

platform, which will provide an earlier, more accurate, and costeffective<br />

diagnosis of dementia.<br />

• The three year collaborative project aims to demonstrate a signifi<strong>can</strong>t<br />

decrease <strong>in</strong> the diagnosis of dementia – from an average of 18<br />

months to just 3 months, thus enabl<strong>in</strong>g patients to access<br />

timely treatment.<br />

• World-class computer-based tests of memory and th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g will be<br />

<strong>in</strong>tegrated with computerised analysis of MRI bra<strong>in</strong> s<strong>can</strong>s, to make<br />

automated and accurate diagnostic reports that lead to rapid<br />

treatment for patient.<br />
