Measured on market value, Novo Nordisk is by far, the biggest company <strong>in</strong> DK. It<br />

has a global workforce exceed<strong>in</strong>g 33.900 employees, out of these around 14,600 is<br />

employed <strong>in</strong> DK. 18% of the total employees work with<strong>in</strong> R & D.<br />

LEO Pharma has around 5000 employees world wide, out of these, 1.600 are<br />

placed <strong>in</strong> DK. 500 of the companies employees work with<strong>in</strong> R & D. Its turnover<br />

and employment rate has been grow<strong>in</strong>g steady for many years <strong>in</strong> a row.<br />

Specialised <strong>in</strong> disorders such as, psychotic disorders,<br />

epilepsy and Hunt<strong>in</strong>gton’s, Alzheimer’s and Park<strong>in</strong>son’s<br />

diseases<br />

Lundbeck employs 6.000 people worldwide, 2.000 of whom are based <strong>in</strong> Denmark.<br />

Production is tak<strong>in</strong>g place <strong>in</strong> several different countries. Lundbeck ploughs back<br />

around 20% of its revenue <strong>in</strong>to R&D of new pharmaceuticals and as a result, the<br />

company has research centres on 3 different cont<strong>in</strong>ents. Lundbeck generated<br />

revenue of approximately 16 billion DKK <strong>in</strong> 2011.<br />
