5. Food security<br />
Information collection and management on issues related to food security should<br />
focus on:<br />
i) Improving access to food;<br />
ii) Improving use <strong>of</strong> underused resources;<br />
iii) Reducing waste;<br />
iv) Enhancing natural productivity; and<br />
v) Developing aquaculture<br />
Similar to policies for sustainable development and responsible fisheries, the<br />
information to be gathered and managed for policies related to food security may<br />
also be applicable for different aquatic ecosystems (Table 2) with different<br />
priorities and importance. For food security major priority issues are for all the<br />
ecosystems.<br />
