reproduction in the district since 1.959. Conspicuous discolouration of the foliage
was observed at numerous locations in the central and southern parts of the district
particularly in Chewett, Cochrane, Chapleau, 12F, 9E, Joffre, and Margaret townships.
Small numbers were observed in. the remainder of the district.
One hundred leaves were examined at each of nine sampling stations to determine
the degree of infestation and the number of mines per infested leaf. The results
are summarized in. Table 6.

All mines in each sample were examined to assess larval mortality and moth
emergence. In most cases no more than 4 per cent, of the miners reached the adult
stage. The results of the a- are shown in Table 7.
