A Leaf Folding Sawfly, Phyllocolpa Sp
Population levels of these sawflies increased in the district in 1965. Opengrown
trembling aspen near Ramsay Creek in Arbutus Township and reproduction at the
Spanish River Dam on Biscotasing Lake were heavily infested. Counts at most sample
stations have shown an Upward trend since 1963 when numbers of the insect were
extremely low in the district (Table 11).

Balsam Shoot-boring Sawfly, Pleroneura borealis Felt.
This insect is normally abundant in alternate years. The decline for 1965 is
shown in Table 12.

Alder Woolly Aphid, Prociphilus tesselatus (Fitch)
The waxy white secretions covering large colonies of aphids make this insect
one of the most conspicuous. Heavy infestations were observed in the Flame Lake
area of BE iand BD townships and near Memoir Lake in 11B Township. Medium infestations
occurred at Zeph Lake in Blarney Township and along Angus Creek in Fawn
Township. Growth infested by these sucking insects usually dies.
