Thirty per cent of the trees in a mixed plantation in Fauquier Township containing
40 per cent Scots pine and 20 per cent each of white spruce, jack pine and white pine
were attacked. The incidence of attack on each tree species is shown in Table 17.

Balsam Shoot-boring Sawfly, Pleroneura borealis Felt
Small numbers of larvae of this primitive shoot-boring sawfly were found at
one location in Williamson Township and in Fauquier and 0 'Brien townships, The
results of quantitative sampling at three locations substantiate the biennial
occurrence of this insect (Table 18),
