Egg bands of the forest tent caterpillar were collected on May sixth and set up
for hatching tests at the South Porcupine Headquarters. Suitable hatching weather
prevailed until May 13 when severe frost occurred. Hatching was sporadic and only
five per cent of the eggs hatched by the end of May. Records of day-to-day hatching
of 10 egg bands are shown in Table 11.
