LAMONT, Douglas Richard<br />
WWII<br />
Douglas was born in 1922 and joined the Army in 1942. He went overseas that<br />
same year, serving in England at the Advance Wireless School and later was active<br />
in the invasions of Sicily and mainland Italy. He was wounded at Moro River, Italy,<br />
in 1943 and had a leg amputated. After the war, he was employed by Prosthetic<br />
Services. He and his wife, Helen, bought a home in Middle Stewiacke in 1976 and<br />
lived there a number of years. He is now living in Truro.<br />

LANGILLE, Edwin<br />
WWI<br />
Edwin was the son of Victoria Oickle (formerly Langille). He joined the CEF on<br />
June 3, 1918 and was assigned to 260 Battalion of the CEF. His battalion was one<br />
of two infantry battalions assigned to the <strong>Canadian</strong> Expedition Force (Siberia) or<br />
simply C.S.E.F. Edwin did not make it to Siberia and was killed in training in British<br />
Columbia on November 27, 1918, just 3 months after his twentieth birthday. Edwin<br />
is buried in plot W 4E 43 in the Victoria (Ross Bay) Cemetery, Victoria, BC.<br />

LOCKERBIE, Arthur J. V.<br />
WWII<br />
Arthur was born in Kouchibouguac, NB, in 1921. In 1941, after a period of study, he completed formal communications<br />
training and in 1942 joined the Merchant Navy. His first shipboard activity was aboard the RANDA sailing between<br />
Canada and the United Kingdom. In the latter part of 1942, he began sailing in the Salvage Tugs out of Halifax, hauling<br />
damaged ships from around the Atlantic shoreline. Many of the damaged vessels were the result of being torpedoed.<br />
In September 1943, Arthur joined an Oil Tanker sailing from South America to Canada and carrying Bunker C from<br />
Montreal to Halifax to St. John’s, NL, in support of the Corvette Frigate Fleet. He commenced living in Sydney, NS,<br />
in 1946, was married to his wife, Meta, in 1950. They are the proud parents of three sons and one daughter. Arthur and<br />
Meta reside on Ainsley Street, Sydney, NS. He is a member of the Sydney Branch #012 of The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> <strong>Legion</strong>.<br />

LOGAN, Gerald Dykeman<br />
WWII<br />
Gerald was born in 1918 in Caribou Gold Mines, son of George and Nellis (Worrell)<br />
Logan, and served in WWII with the RCAF and was based in Leeds, England. He<br />
married Abigail Sullivan of Cobalt, ON. After the war, they resided in various places<br />
before moving to Upper Stewiacke Village, where they lived for many years. Gerald<br />
passed away in 2008.<br />
