MacLENNAN, Frank Lester<br />
WWII<br />
Frank was born in River Denys in 1922 and served in the RCASC in Canada,<br />
Continental Europe and England. He is a member of Whycocomagh Branch #123<br />
of The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> <strong>Legion</strong>.<br />

MacNEIL, John Myers<br />
SPECIAL DUTY & PEACETIME<br />
John was born in Sydney Mines in 1936. He joined the Air Force and served with<br />
the Black Water, RCA in Canada, Germany and Cyprus. He received the Civil<br />
Defence, MMM, French Commando USA Ranger Course and has been a member<br />
of Breton Branch #008 of The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> <strong>Legion</strong> for 14 years.<br />

MacNEIL, Michael James<br />
WWII<br />
Michael was born in Stellarton, NS, in 1918. He served from 1939-1945 in the<br />
Army with the Pictou Highlanders and in the Air Force from 1954-1965 serving in<br />
Canada. His RCAF Postings were in Gimli, MB, Trenton, ON, Torbay, NL, and<br />
Summerside, PEI. He received the CVSM and Clasp, the 1939-45 War Medal, the<br />
<strong>Canadian</strong> Efficiency Medal, and the <strong>Canadian</strong> Forces Decoration (Queens). He<br />
donated his medals to the Pictou County Military Museum. Michael passed away<br />
in 2008.<br />

MacQUARRIE, George Carson<br />
WWII<br />
George, son of James Hugh and Nora Jane (Gaston) MacQuarrie of Eastville, was<br />
born in 1920. He joined the Army and was placed with the 17 th Duke of York’s<br />
<strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Hussars. The Hussars left Halifax in 1941 in a convoy of three<br />
troop ships and six cruisers and encountered an enemy submarine as they crossed the<br />
Atlantic. He fought in France, where he was wounded by shrapnel. After recovering<br />
in a British hospital, he was sent to Holland then back to England and eventually<br />
home. He spent the rest of his life on the family farm in Eastville. George passed<br />
away in 2000.<br />
