Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> <strong>Legion</strong><br />

WHIDDEN, Thomas Harry<br />

WWI<br />

Harry, son of Thomas Campbell (Cam) and Blanche (Inglehut) Whidden of<br />

Springfield, was born in 1896, and enlisted in 1917 and served in France, Germany<br />

and Belgium. Wounded in battle, he suffered the effects of it for years. After the<br />

war, he lived on his home place at Smithfield and then moved to Murray Siding,<br />

near Truro. Harry passed away in 1968.<br />

WHITE, Trafton<br />

WWII<br />

Trafton was born in 1925 in Yarmouth County. He joined the Merchant Marines,<br />

serving in the North Atlantic. He returned to Tusket and worked as a farmer and<br />

woodsman. He still resides in the area.<br />

WILLIAMS, Bernice<br />

PEACETIME<br />

Bernice was born in Halifax, NS, in 1925 and joined the RCCS and CWAC serving<br />

in Canada and has been a member of the Calais Branch #162 of The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong><br />

<strong>Legion</strong> for 35 years.<br />

WOODFIELD, Braun Scott<br />

AFGHANISTAN<br />

Private Braun Scott Woodfield (Jan 03, 1981 – Nov 24 2005). Born in Victoria,<br />

BC, in 1981 and raised in Eastern Passage, NS. Joined the <strong>Canadian</strong> Army in 2003<br />

and served with 2 nd Battalion, <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Regiment stationed in Gagetown,<br />

NB. He was killed when the armoured vehicle he was riding in rolled over northeast<br />

of Kandahar. Braun had a large red maple leaf tattoo on his shoulder and would joke<br />

with family and friends – “Made in Canada.”<br />
