Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion COX, Roland Grant “Bub” WWII Bub, as he was known, was born in 1919, the son of Grant and Mary Jane (Smith) Cox of Otter Brook Road. He enlisted in the No. 6 District Depot of the Canadian Army in 1941 and served in England and Continental Europe working on a Brenn Gun Carrier. He married Jean Smith of Londonderry Station and lived in Kitchener, ON. He passed away in 1969. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. COX, Ula Bessie WWII Ula, daughter of Reuben and Etta (Taylor) Cox of South Branch, was born in 1921 and served overseas in the Army Dental Corps. She married Frank Ernst, a dentist and they lived in Lunenburg. She passed away in 2003. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. COX, Weldon John WWI He was born ‘Weldon Thorpe’ in 1898, the son of William and Bertha (Patterson) Thorpe, and was raised by his mother’s aunt, Caroline (Graham) Cox of Eastville. He joined the 106 th Battalion in 1915. After the war, he married Bessie Robinson and lived in Truro and then the United States. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. COX, William Rutherford WWI William, born in 1886, was the son of Dr. Robinson and Mary (Rutherford) Cox of Upper Stewiacke Village. He was a Lieutenant in the 106 th Battalion and went overseas with them. On his return, he lived in Upper Stewiacke and Vancouver, returning to Halifax in the mid 1960’s. He passed away in 1968.
