BIO 220 Introduction to Microbiology 4 hrs.<br />
An introductory course with emphasis on pathogens and disease processes. Attention given to<br />
such fields as nursing, environmental protection, agriculture, food technology and public health<br />
as they apply to microbiology.<br />
Prerequisite: BIO 200 or BIO 210<br />
BIO 223 Anatomy & Physiology I 4 hrs.<br />
An introductory course in anatomy and physiology. Emphasis given to cells, tissues, and<br />
translocation of materials. A survey of integumentary, skeletal, muscular and nervous systems.<br />
Three hours lecture, two hours laboratory per week.<br />
Prerequisite: BIO 100<br />
BIO 224 Anatomy & Physiology II 4 hrs.<br />
A continuation of BI 223 with emphasis given to the circulatory, respiratory, digestive,<br />
endocrine, urinary and reproductive systems. Three hours lecture, two hours laboratory per<br />
week.<br />
Prerequisite: BIO 223<br />
Business<br />
BUS 131 Introduction to Business 3 hrs.<br />
A survey course in business with emphasis on the free enterprise system, business organization,<br />
marketing, finance, accounting, and management principles. Required foundation for advanced<br />
study.<br />
BUS 201 Principles of Economics I 3 hrs.<br />
An introduction to macro-economics. Studies of national income accounts and measurement,<br />
income determination, banking systems, and monetary and fiscal policies.<br />
BUS 202 Principles of Economics II 3 hrs.<br />
An introduction to micro-economics. Studies of demand and supply, elasticity, market price<br />
determination, market structures, and the theory of maximum profit.<br />
BUS 213 Principles of Accounting I 3 hrs.<br />
This course embraces the study of the fundamental principles of accounting as they apply to<br />
modern business practices, including theory of debit and credit. Special emphasis is given to the<br />
preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, subsidiary ledgers, special journals<br />
and other accounting procedures. The students are exposed to the use of the computer in<br />
accounting applications.<br />
