BUS 312 Intermediate Accounting II 3 hrs.<br />

A continuation of BUS 311.<br />

BUS 313 Introduction to Public Relations 3 hrs.<br />

An introductory course which teaches students to relate business activities to promote the<br />

good of the organization via radio, TV, newsprint; students explore writing press releases,<br />

developing promotional literature, etc.<br />

Prerequisites: ENG 111 & ENG 112<br />

BUS 314 Planning & Executing Corporate & Sports Events 3 hrs.<br />

An in-depth look at the practices, procedures and operations of major event and facility<br />

management, including planning, funding, and managing these events. The main focus of these<br />

principles will be on sporting events and facilities, but can be applied to many different areas,<br />

including corporate and social events.<br />

Prerequisite: BUS 201<br />

BUS 320 Business Communications 3 hrs.<br />

In this course, students gain an understanding of the purposes and processes of communication<br />

in business and how to create communication tools that meet the needs of business audiences.<br />

Students will have the opportunities to evaluate and improve their oral communication through<br />

a number of exercises including videotaping.<br />

Prerequisites: ENG 111 & ENG 112<br />

BUS 336 Business & Economics of Sports 3 hrs.<br />

Students examine the economic relationships surrounding professional and intercollegiate<br />

sport in the United States. Students develop a business plan for a professional sport franchise<br />

and manage the franchise through a number of economic environments, including salary caps,<br />

revenue sharing insurance contracts, expansion and stadium/arena financing. They obtain a<br />

greater understanding of the market forces that shape professional leagues, the factors that<br />

determine player compensation and the relationship between economic forces and competitive<br />

balance in professional sports.<br />

BUS 338 The Legal Environment of Business 3 hrs.<br />

A study of the legal system and environment of business with emphasis on legal principles<br />

relating to contracts and commercial law. Topics covered include the nature, elements,<br />

formation, operations, interpretation, discharge and remedies of contract, sales, commercial<br />

paper, secured transactions, surety.<br />

Prerequisite: BUS 131<br />
