MTH 225 Statistics 3 hrs.<br />
This course introduces the fundamental ideas of statistics. Objectives of the course are to<br />
develop a critical appreciation of statistical thinking and an awareness of the various tools of<br />
the statistician. Students should be prepared to think and write about complicated and<br />
sometimes subtle issues.<br />
Prerequisite: 9 hrs. of mathematics<br />
MTH 230 Calculus & Analytic Geometry I 3 hrs.<br />
Limits and continuity; derivative and differentiation; extreme function values and techniques of<br />
graphing.<br />
Prerequisite: MTH 222<br />
MTH 232 Calculus & Analytic Geometry II 3 hrs.<br />
Definite integral and integration; applications of the definite integral; inverse functions,<br />
logarithmic functions and exponential functions; inverse trigonometric functions.<br />
Prerequisite: MTH 230<br />
MTH 300 Mathematics for Elementary Teachers 3 hrs.<br />
Designed to provide the content background and mathematical insights necessary for preschool<br />
and elementary teachers. Discovery activities using manipulatives and calculators are<br />
emphasized.<br />
Prerequisite: 6 hrs. of college level Mathematics<br />
Military Science<br />
MLS 101 Military Science & Leadership 101 2 hrs.<br />
MLS 101 Introduces the student to the personal challenges and competencies that are critical<br />
for effective leadership. The student will learn how the personal development of life skills such<br />
as goal setting, time management, physical fitness, and stress management relate to<br />
leadership, officeship, and the Army profession. The focus is on developing basic knowledge<br />
and comprehension of Army leadership dimensions, attributes and core leader competencies<br />
while gaining a big picture understanding of the ROTC program, its purpose in the Army, and its<br />
advantages for the student. Topics include principles of war, role of the army, army reserve, the<br />
national guard, branches of the army, navigation using map and compass, basic first aid,<br />
marksmanship, water survival, and rappelling.<br />
Prerequisite: Approval from the Professor of Military Science.<br />
MLS 102 Military Science & Leadership 102 2 hrs.<br />
A continuation of MLS 101.<br />
Prerequisite: Approval from the Professor of Military Science.<br />
