BUS 445 Technical Writing 3 hrs.<br />
Instruction in composing and organizing manuscripts stressing general principles of technical<br />
writing. Emphasis is also placed on formatting technical documents such as research and<br />
business proposals, reports, and software documentation.<br />
Prerequisite: BUS 320<br />
BUS 461 Labor Management 3 hrs.<br />
This course focuses on the management factors that determine wages, working conditions, and<br />
the structure of employment and unemployment. The course analyzes the determination and<br />
implication of manpower and industrial relation policies of business firms, the development and<br />
role of labor unions and collective bargaining, and related public policy issues.<br />
BUS 487 Sales Management 3 hrs.<br />
The study of principles and practices in planning, organizing and controlling a sales force. Topics<br />
discussed include selection, training, compensating, supervising, and stimulating sales people;<br />
analysis of sales potentials and costs; forecasting, market potential in relation to the buyers.<br />
Prerequisite: BUS 310<br />
BUS 490 Business Policy 3 hrs.<br />
Students play the role of top management in formulating business policy using cases drawn<br />
from situations in business and industry. It is intended to give students an opportunity to<br />
integrate knowledge acquired in functional areas of business.<br />
Prerequisite: Senior standing or consent of instructor<br />
BUS 492 Organizational Behavior 3 hrs.<br />
This course is designed to examine the concepts and theories from the behavioral science,<br />
which explains human behavior within organizations. The focus of this course is on human<br />
behavior in an organizational context. It will provide the student with an understanding of the<br />
concepts of organizational functioning and human behavior with an emphasis on the<br />
application of these concepts to managerial problems.<br />
BUS 494 Management Science 3 hrs.<br />
This course is a basic introduction to important models and solution techniques in Management<br />
Science. The basic theme is that of optimization. The emphasis is on deterministic models,<br />
focusing primarily on linear programming and dynamic programming. The development of<br />
modeling skills is an important part of the course.<br />
BUS 496 Professional Development 3 hrs.<br />
This course is designed to provide supplemental experiences to better prepare students for the<br />
transition from college to the highly competitive business world. Special emphasis will be<br />
placed on establishing career goals, developing mentor-mentee relationships determining<br />
strengths and weakness and making field trips to businesses.<br />
