MODULE FOUR<br />

Facilitating Skills<br />

OBJECTIVE<br />

This module is completely devoted to you the trainer/facilitator. The objective<br />

of this secti<strong>on</strong> is to enable you to sharpen your own skills as a trainer/facilitator,<br />

especially in the c<strong>on</strong>text of AHT. As such, this secti<strong>on</strong> is applicable throughout<br />

the course of pre training, during training and post training preparati<strong>on</strong> and<br />

activities. It will build your own skills in the c<strong>on</strong>text of:<br />

Facilitating pre-training preparati<strong>on</strong> process.<br />

Facilitating the need <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> proper, effective communicati<strong>on</strong> as a means to<br />

improving interacti<strong>on</strong>s with and am<strong>on</strong>gst the participants.<br />

Facilitating change in styles of presentati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Enabling you to focus <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mat of c<strong>on</strong>tent and design of training sessi<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

Enabling you to seek c<strong>on</strong>structive feedback and help your participants<br />

draw up a practical and achievable acti<strong>on</strong> plan.<br />

Encouraging use of various aids to build sensitivities so that participants<br />

acquire awareness and learning via experience.<br />

CONTENT<br />

Trainer/facilitator: an agent of change.<br />

Post-training.<br />

Closing exercises.<br />

STRUCTURE<br />

Unlike the previous modules, this module has a slightly different structure.<br />

In fact it serves a dual purpose<br />

1) It will enable you to sharpen your own skills as a facilitator and<br />

2) it gives you both in<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong> and exercises that you can use if your<br />

participants are not just practicing police pers<strong>on</strong>nel but are prospective<br />

trainer/facilitators.<br />

There is, there<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>e, more text from which you would benefit combined<br />

with a few exercises.<br />

Again like previous secti<strong>on</strong>s you can modify them to suit your group.
