need to expand their services in rural areas and offer<br />

appropriate services for funding agricultural productivity.<br />

CBs should develop services to enhance<br />

the capability of small farmers to respond to market<br />

requirements. The dissemination of good practice is<br />

an additional activity. The objectives of the project are<br />

to enhance access to sustainable and adapted services<br />

in rural areas through increasing the outreach of<br />

CBs and fi nancial intermediaries to alleviate poverty,<br />

reduce food insecurity and promote economic and<br />

social development of low income rural households.<br />

It addresses specifi cally the problems of<br />

inadequate knowledge of effective agricultural techniques,<br />

inadequate methods of crop storage, soil<br />

The present action has been designed in close<br />

consultation with the affected communities and it<br />

includes an active role for local and district authorities<br />

as project partners. Overall, the project will help<br />

mitigate the current and long-term food insecurity<br />

in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People’s<br />
