Summary and objectives<br />

Increase of cash revenues to buy food through sustainable<br />

management of sylvo-pastoral resources,<br />

paid conservation works (soil and water, fi rebreaks)<br />

as well as value chain development of non-wood<br />

forest products (e.g. arabic gum, baobab fruit, desert<br />

date).<br />

Target groups<br />

13500 members of inter-village resource management<br />

organisations, of whom 6800 are women.<br />

Final beneficiaries<br />

124 000 inhabitants of collectively defi ned and locally<br />

managed areas - of whom 62% in Guidimakha and<br />

47% in Hodh El Gharbi are poor.<br />

Summary and objectives<br />

To improve food security conditions in the provinces<br />

of Sofala and Maputo. In particular, the project aims<br />

at increasing agriculture production and improving<br />

conditions for commercialising products in the districts<br />

mentioned.<br />

Target groups<br />

1 350 families (about 8000 people – association<br />

members and farming families), and 20 agricultural<br />

technicians.<br />

Final beneficiaries<br />

47 900 farmers – Marracuene district (8700), Buzi<br />

district (27600) and Nhamatanda district (11600).<br />

Summary and objectives<br />

To address food security issues affecting rural households<br />

via the use of low-cost indigenous technologies<br />

for community-based post-harvest seed multiplication.<br />

To help more than 38000 farmer households<br />

reduce post-harvest grain storage losses to less than<br />

5%, improve access to quality seeds, and increase<br />

average food crop yields by 100%.<br />

Target groups<br />

150 farmers’ associations (about 3 750 members,<br />

35% women), and 300 Community Development<br />

Councils (about 6000 members, more than<br />

30% women).<br />

Final beneficiaries<br />

Some 290000 rural families in 8 districts of northern<br />

Mozambique.<br />
