About 74% of the Afghan population lives in rural<br />

food needs through stabilisation and strengthening<br />

of livelihoods and social measures to support vulnerable<br />

households and communities in four districts of<br />

Badakhshan province.<br />

Cooperation Centre for Afghanistan (CCA), Afghanistan.<br />

price crises of 2008, Concern provided safety net<br />

measures, including agriculture inputs, to vulnerable<br />

communities in north-eastern Afghanistan. The<br />

action will expand on knowledge to address the food<br />

security needs of local communities and build their<br />

resilience to cope with and respond to shocks. The<br />

action has been developed in consultation with target<br />

groups and other stakeholders. The objective is to<br />

increase food and livelihood security of vulnerable<br />

households in Badakshan province, Afghanistan<br />

whilst strengthening productive capacities of local<br />

communities and facilitating responsive food security<br />

policies and practices.<br />

A total of 30 villages in Badakshan province, northeastern<br />

Afghanistan, with a population of about<br />

20 000 (9 760 females and 10 240 males).<br />
