To enhance food and livelihood security for the most<br />
vulnerable communities living in the remote mountain<br />
regions of Northern Areas and Chitral, through<br />
land development, establishment of a seed supply<br />
system, improvement of agricultural and livestock<br />
production as well as post-harvest preservation<br />
techniques.<br />
Target groups<br />
Nine most vulnerable union councils (UCs) in<br />
Northern Areas and Chitral, with a target population<br />
of over 100 000 (12 500 households).<br />
Final beneficiaries<br />
Around 240 000 persons (30 000 households) in<br />
Northern Areas and Chitral.<br />

Target groups<br />
Poor and vulnerable families living in the eight worst<br />
earthquake-affected union councils in Mansehra<br />
district, NWFP, Pakistan.<br />
Final beneficiaries<br />
145 000 people living in the target areas of Mansehra,<br />
local NGO partners and village groups.<br />

To help cushion the impact of volatile food prices<br />

the Musakheal district of Baluchistan province, and<br />
in the Sanghar and Dadu districts of Sindh province.<br />
Target groups<br />
50 000 farmers (smallholders, agricultural labourers,<br />
landless farmers) from drought-prone districts;<br />
100 local government offi cials; 16 local partner staff<br />
from SAFWCO, BEEJ and PDI for capacity building.<br />

women and young people who will undergo professional<br />
training.<br />
