target price – price that, according to analysts, will be
reached within specific time.
distribution – transportation of electricity via distribution
grids to end users
dividend – part of the net profit to be distributed among
shareholders.
polygeneration - simultaneous generation of electricity
and liquid fuels. Fuels are produced indirectly from synthetic
gas obtained as a result of hard coal gasification
kWh – kilowatt hour, amount of electricity consumed
for an hour by a 1000 W device
MWe – electric power megawatt
advertising value equivalent – ratio of a sponsor’s outlays
to the valuation (rating) of media coverage achieved.
It is one of the metrics used to measure effectiveness of
sponsoring activities
combined heat and power plant (CHP) – a plant that simultaneously
generates electricity and heat
MWt – thermal megawatt (of heat)
RES – renewable energy sources
rating – an independent assessment of credit risk made
by specialized rating agencies with respect to an entity
that takes on a loan.
LTC – long term power purchase contracts in the energy
sector. They were introduced as a collateral for banks
that were financing large upgrade investment projects
in the energy sector. They defined how much electricity
and at what prices was to be purchased from the given
power plant by Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (TSO).
Long term contracts were terminated in 2007 and the
generators covered thereby were granted the right to
cover the so-called “stranded costs”, i.e. capital expenditures
incurred, that will be covered with revenue following
the termination of such contracts.
”BBB” rating – a satisfactory ability of an entity to service
its liabilities.
spot market – sale with a payment date of up to two
days
toe – ton of oil equivalent, thermal equivalent of one
metric ton of crude oil with the heating value equal to
10 thou. kcal/kg
TWh – terawatt hour, a billion kilowatt hours (kWh)
mWIG40 – index that groups 40 mid size companies listed
on the WSE.
cogeneration – simultaneous generation of electricity
and heat at a combined heat and power plant (CHP)
Mtoe – million tons of oil equivalent
WIG20 – index that groups 20 largest companies listed
on the WSE (based on the highest free float market capitalization
and the highest trading volume).
