HOUSTON_ TEXA_--The National Aeronautics and Space Administration<br />

has awarded a letter contract to AC Electronics Division of General<br />

Motors Corporation to provide for primary navigation, guidance and<br />

control system support for the Command Modules and Lunar Modules for<br />

the Apollo Program.<br />

The contract was effective January 1_ in the amount of $3 million<br />

to be definitized by April 30, <strong>1970</strong>. A cost-plus-award-fee definitive<br />

contract is contemplated.<br />

Under the proposed contract, AC Electronics will be responsible<br />

for analysis of Guidance and Navigation Hardware and Software problems_<br />

perform any required retrofit and/or modifications; manage and operate<br />

the Guidance and Navigation Labs at the various field sites; perform<br />

a complete checkout and test for all Primary Navigation, Guidance and<br />

Control Systems; and analyze_ repair, and test failed Guidance and<br />

Navigation Airborne Hardware and Ground Support Equipment.<br />

This is a continuation of the services previously performed for<br />

the Manned Spacecraft Center by AC Electronics Division in connection<br />

with the manufact_lring and testing of Primary Navigation, Guidance and<br />

Control Systems Hardware.<br />

The majority of the work will be performed by AC Electronics at<br />

their Milwaukee, Wisconsin facility.<br />
