HOUSTON, TEXAS---Ivy F_ssler was cited recently by the National<br />

Aeronautics and Space Administration as one of four agency nominees<br />

for the 1969 Federal Woman's Award.<br />

To be eligible_ a womax must demonstrate "outstanding ability and<br />

achievement in an executive_ professional, scientific or technical position.<br />

Mrs. Fossler_ who is senior engineer in the Applied Flight Dynamics<br />

section at the <strong>NASA</strong> Manned Spacecraft Center_ was nominated for her<br />

contributions to the Apollo moon landing program and in the development<br />

of re-useable launch vehiclas for post-Apollo programs.<br />

In nominating Mrs. Fossler for the award <strong>NASA</strong> cited her for playing<br />

a major role in determining the wind conditions under which it is safe<br />

to launch an Apollo spacecraft. The analysis she performed continues to<br />

determine the launch wind r2strictions for all Apollo launches.<br />

Mrs. Fossler_ formerly Ivy Hooks, and her husband Kenneth and<br />

daughters Paula and Cy% reside in Friendswood, Texas. Mrs. Fossler<br />

received her BS and _ degrses from the University of Houston in 1963<br />

and 1965. She has also attended Stephen F. Austin State Coltege_<br />

Southwestern University, an_ Sam Houston State College.<br />

Mrs. Fossler joined th2 <strong>NASA</strong> Manned Spacecraft Center in 1963.
