HOUSTON_ TEXAS---A number of leading experts on the Moon are<br />

scheduled to attend a symposium and conference next week at the<br />

Manned Spacecraft Center and the Lunar Science Institute.<br />

The meetings_ which are being conducted by the Lunar Science<br />

Institute_ will include discussions on lunar geology_ origins of<br />

the Earth/Moon system_ mass concentrations on the Moon_ and age of<br />

the lunar surface.<br />

A day-long symposium on "Geophysics on the Moon" will begin at<br />

9:30 a.m. Tuesday_ September 8 in the MSC Building 1 Auditorium.<br />

The symposium will be chaired by Dr. Gene Simmons, Chief Scientist<br />

at M[SC and will cover the results of a continuing colloquium on<br />

lunar geophysics sponsored by the Lunar Science Institute in August,<br />

1969hand June, <strong>1970</strong>.<br />

About 50 lunar sciertists are expected to attend a meeting<br />

September 9 - 11 at the Lunar Science Institute near MSC to discuss<br />

the structure_ composition and history of the lunar surface.<br />

The conference will be chaired by Dr. Paul Gast_ Chief of the<br />

Lunar and Earth Sciences Division at MSC and by Dr. William W. Rubey,<br />

Chairman of the Lunar Science Institute.
