HOUSTON_ TEXAS--A special space science program for school groups<br />

has been established at the <strong>NASA</strong> Manned Spacecraft Center.<br />

Invitations to participate have been mailed to administrators of the<br />

927 schools in the 23 counties within 100 miles of Houston.<br />

The lecture-demonstration will be given each Wednesday throughout<br />

the school year to acquaint students with space science concepts_ applications_<br />

m_jor accomplishments_ and future objectives. A question and answer period<br />

will be included in each program, followed by an opportunity to view a<br />

current <strong>NASA</strong> film and the exhibits and artifacts of manned space flight on<br />

display in the Visitor Orientation Center.<br />

An optional self-guided tour through several operational facilities<br />

is available_<br />

also.<br />

The program will be presented for grades one through six on the first<br />

and third Wednesdays of each month and for grades seven through twelve on<br />

the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.<br />

Special Events Office, Code AP5_ Houston, Texas 77058, or by calling<br />

area code 713_ 483-4321.<br />

Invitations have gone -50 schools in the following counties: Austin,<br />

Brazos_ Chambers_ Colorado_ Fort Bend_ Galveston_ Grimes, Hardin_ Harris,<br />

Jackson_ dasper_ Jefferson_ Liberty, Matagorda_ Montgomery_ Orange, Polk_<br />

San Jacinto, Victoria, Walker_ Waller, Washington, and Wharton.
