Learning beyond the Syllabus
National and International conferences and invited lectures and ‘concept classes’ on current topics of
relevance to industry and R&D sectors are hosted by the Institute from time to time, in which renowned
experts from these sectors as well as those from academia illuminate the students and the faculty of the
Institute by their deliberations and guidance. The participation of the students in such seminars together
with the involvement of students in innovative research at the Sir J. C. Bose Creativity Centre of the Institute
widens their outlook and helps them to cope up with the continuous changing global scenario in the scope
of science and engineering and thus adds to their ‘learning beyond syllabus’. Besides, by participating in
NSS activities they learn how to pay back to the society to which they owe greatly for their advancement.
Sports, Games and Cultural Wings
The Institute believes in “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” Hence, the Institute gives utmost
attention to see that the students take part in sports and games and participate in the meets and competitions
arranged in-house or outside the Institute. Similarly, the Institute encourages the talents of students in
performing arts and sponsors the cultural events organised by them round the year.
