Tech in Electrical Engineering (Electrical Devices and Power Systems) Higher Studies in Electrical Engineering: Some Comprehensive Thoughts The discipline of electrical engineering is embedded in science and in mathematics. If a disciple of this branch of engineering enjoys science and mathematics then electrical engineering will surely be a fascinating and rewarding field of study for him/her with many opportunities to solve key engineering problems. Sub-domains within this discipline widely range from exploration of information and its communication through material physics that results in innovation of new devices and the circuits made from them, to the algorithms that run on next generation computing platforms. The subtler essence of the discipline has placed its adorer in a comfortable position so as to address a variety of the crucial engineering issues that civilization is facing today. The main issues of today’s society are predominantly three folds: if the first concern is the “Energy”, the second is obviously “Information” and the last but not the least is the “Health”. SKFGI’s vibrant department of Electrical Engineering with its relatively young and dynamic faculty and other academic staff is actively engaged in teaching and research on many topics related to these challenges to cater to the global scenario. The faculty of Electrical Engineering Department at SKFGI, in conjunction with its constituents, has established the following educational objectives for the post-graduate students. w The postgraduate students should have a strong foundation in the areas of mathematics, basic sciences and should gain the knowledge of core electrical engineering fundamentals to develop abilities necessary for specialization in all areas of electrical engineering. w The postgraduate students should develop problem solving and design skills for devising and evaluating solutions for problems related to electrical engineering, including design of components, systems, and experiments. w The postgraduate students should be well-informed about the present and emerging technologies that are significant in connection to electrical engineering. w The postgraduate students should be well-prepared for doctoral research. w The postgraduate students should embrace and foster an environment that encourages creativity and enthusiasm for life-long learning. w The postgraduate students must develop professional attributes like communication skills, teamwork, ethics, and an appreciation for other disciplines, both technical and non-technical, in order to deal with the impact of technology in a global, societal, and organizational context. To strengthen the applied knowledge of the students of any branch of engineering, laboratories are an integral part of the course. The department of Electrical Engineering at SKFGI offers its postgraduate students a number of laboratory courses through which they can get first hand knowledge about a number of very specialized software that are widely used in industries to solve real time problem. The students are given an exposure to realize the simulated results through hardware realization. The facilities offered to the post graduate students at SKFGI are comparable to the best in industries. Faculty mentoring M. Tech (EE) Students M.
