Fee Collection, Loan and Railway Concession<br />

Students are advised to approach the Student Relation Affairs Cell of the Institute for all necessary guidance<br />

to any issues related to fee payment, education loan, railway concession, and other related affairs. (For the<br />

fee structure and the mode of payment, see the sections to follow on Sir J. C. Bose School of Engineering<br />

and Dr. P. C. Mahalnabish School of Management).<br />

Hostel Facilities<br />

In-Campus Hostels are provided separately for the Boys and Girls admitted into the Institute subject to the<br />

availability of seats on first-come-first serve basis, giving due preference to those living far from the Institute<br />

Campus, however, holding the right of the Institute on the allotment of Hostel seats to students. A student<br />

living in the hostel has to strictly abide by the norms laid in the ‘Halls of Residence’, duly displayed in the<br />

Hostel. The students residing outside the Institute Hostels, termed as Day Scholars, have to ensure that<br />

they attend classes and take part in Institute activities including those arranged for their training and<br />

placement adhering to the Institute schedule, at par with the residents of Institute Hostels.<br />

The Institute Hostels are spacious with well ventilated rooms, free from noise. The Hostels provide<br />

comfortable living facilities including round the clock electricity, water supply and security. The Hostel<br />

Superintendents closely monitor the food and lodging arrangement of the resident wards and ensures a<br />

home-away-from-home atmosphere in hostels. A boy or girl student opting for the Institute Hostel facility,<br />

has to pay the hostel fee @1350/- per month on quarterly basis in advance, i.e., Rs. 4150/- (Rupees four<br />

thousand one hundred fifty only) to the Institute for one quarter (three months). The above fee is for lodging<br />

only payable to the Institute. The Institute has made provisions of two in-campus canteens to serve food<br />

to both the hostel boarders and the day scholars. The boy/girl hostel boarders shall avail food from these<br />

canteens paying at actuals.<br />

Further, a Caution Deposit of Rs.6000/-, which is fully refundable after one month of vacating the Hostel<br />

accommodation, is to be paid by hostel boarders (both boys and girls). However, the value of any advertent<br />

damage to asset(s) of the hostel, as evaluated by the Institute, shall be deducted from the caution deposit,<br />

on the sole discretion of the Institute. The Hostel fees and charges are subject to revisions from time to<br />

time. A student may opt to leave the hostel at his/her own discretion subject to consent given by his/her<br />

parent/guardian. However, such an option can be allowed only at the end of a semester and not within a<br />

running semester. The Institute reserves the right to discharge/leave any hostel boarder(s)at any point of<br />

time, instantly on the ground of indiscipline, violation of ‘Halls of Residence’ intimating the parents/guardian<br />

concerned.<br />

Cafeteria<br />

Besides food (breakfast, lunch, dinner, refreshments)<br />

available in canteens, the Institute Cafeteria provides<br />

on payment basis lunch and other refreshments<br />

during stipulated period within the Institute hour.<br />

This has proved to be of immense help to both day<br />

scholars and Institute Staff including teachers and<br />

visitors.<br />

Medical Facilities<br />

The Institute has a well equipped Medical Room for first-aid and primary medical treatment to provide<br />

medical assistance to the students. In case of emergency, the Institute provide facilities to move the ailing<br />

student to nearby Hospitals and Nursing Homes. The cost incurred in the medical treatment is borne by<br />

the student concerned.<br />

Dress Code and ID Card<br />

The Institute strictly maintains its Dress Code and ID Card as compulsory for all students. Two different<br />

types of dresses are prescribed for the Engineering and the Management students, respectively. Students<br />

not in prescribed dress and/or not possessing a valid ID card are liable to be debarred from entering the<br />

Institute Campus / charged penalty.<br />

Educational Loan<br />

The Institute provides all assistances to obtain easy and prompt ‘education loan’ from the nationalized and<br />

private banks for the eligible students.<br />
