Campus Discipline
The students feel a very sacred atmosphere in the Campus. They feel motivated to advance in their career
when they find themselves in a disciplined campus. The law and order in the locality around the campus
is also very peaceful. Being adjacent to Mankundu Railway Station, SKFGI provides an added advantage
for the commuting day-scholars, teachers, and other employees of the Institute. Further, it is compulsory
not only for all students but also for teachers and other employees of the Institute to remain present in
the campus during the Institute hours; none of them are permitted to leave the campus during these hours
without a valid permission from the authority, which has to be based on the applications in the prescribed
format duly endorsed by the concerned heads of departments/directors/ deans.
Ragging in any form inside or outside the campus or in the halls of residence or hostels is strictly prohibited.
The involvement or indulgence in such activity is considered as an act of indiscipline as per West Bengal
Government Anti-Ragging Act and will lead to the expulsion of the involved students from the Institute.
All prohibitory measures are taken as per the norms of the Supreme Court (vide Writ Petition No. C656/1998).
The Anti-Ragging Squad of the Institute shall be in constant vigil to eliminate ragging and redress any
complaint in this regard, expeditiously. Moreover, smoking, consuming alcohol, taking ‘drugs’, chewing pan,
tambaku, zarda, etc. in the Institute Campus are strictly prohibited.
Security and Proctorial Board
The region in which the Institute is situated is reportedly very peaceful and naturally it enjoys a much
secured environment and as such it becomes rather easy for the Institute Administration to provide security
to students. However, the Institute maintains a liaison with the Civil Authorities to ensure the security in
the Campus. Furthermore, the Institute Proctorial Board keeps round-the-clock vigil to see that the peaceful
environment is not disturbed in the Campus. Stern action is taken against a student if found involved in
any misconduct and in any activity that would harm the peaceful environment of the Campus.
Concept Classes
Personal care is taken with respect to individual students
to implant the basics and fundamentals in them through
‘concept classes’ which they are supposed to attend
beyond their regular classes. Such concept classes are
addressed by the renowned professors of the Institute
as well as by the external experts from premier
Organisations of the academic, R&D laboratory, industry,
and defence sectors of the country.
Attendance and
Examination
The strict observance of the attendance and the
examination sanctity has been a prime asset of the
Institute. Each student is required to secure at least 75%
attendance as per WBUT norms in both theory and
practical classes. Failure to attain the required percentage
debars a student from appearing in Semester
Examinations. No compromise is made with regard to
indiscipline and malpractice in Internal and University
Examinations. The parents/guardians are constantly
informed of their wards’ attendance and performances
in Examinations.
Parents-Teachers
Interaction
The Institute maintains a close linkage with the
parents/guardians of the students. The parents/guardians
are informed of the attendance, the performance, and of
the other activities of their wards. Similarly, the
parents/guardians are welcome anytime to interact with
the Institute on any matter concerning their wards. The
disciplinary action taken against a student, if any, is
brought to the notice of his or her parents/guardians.
We ensure the interaction between the parents and the
Institute through frequent meetings. A visiting hour of
the parents/guardian is scheduled from 3 to 4.30pm on
all working days unless the concerned department
intimates the parents/guardian to visit the Institute
urgently or beyond the schedule hours on exigency.
