How to integrate all these aspects in a 4-year graduate engineering course It will never be possible to
teach everything required when they go to work after four years – even many parallel tracks and elective
courses are offered. National academy of Engineering of the National Academies USA has made the
following recommendations:
The baccalaureate degree should be considered as a pre-engineering or “engineer in training” degree.
Master degree can be recognized as the engineering “professional” degree.
Institutes should endorse research in engineering education as a valued and rewarded activity for
engineering faculty. Because the new curriculum and the faculty the two together can reinforce the
idea.
Institutions should encourage domestic students to obtain M.S/M Tech and Ph.D. degrees.
They shall have to be benchmarked as per the principles of Washington Accord, a ten-member apex
global organisation that determines standards of engineering degree.
Faculty mentoring M. Tech (ECE) Students
M. Tech students are taught by distinguished faculty of ECE Department (See Annexure BII).
