The DMII is a technical and supervisory qualification
for insurance staff working across all sectors of the
industry. The DMII provides a firm grounding in
insurance fundamentals and enables candidates to
build advanced technical knowledge; emphasises
the integration of both practical and theoretical
understanding, making this programme the key to
advancing in career and servicing the customers.
This programme is aimed to develop students’ progressive knowledge in;
• The practical concept of risk and insurance
• The insurance market place
• The principles of conventional insurance and takaful
• The regulatory requirements on the insurance industry
• The types of insurances available in the market place
• The underwriting and claims procedures and be able to apply them to given situation
• Promotes a strong understanding of both practical and theoretical insurance knowledge
• A comprehensive programme with a focus on applied career-specific knowledge
• Provides advanced standing to attain the AMII, the highest qualification by MII
• DMII certificate awarded upon completion
• Insurance staff who in of need technical knowledge and practical skills at the operational level
• Those who are looking to build a career with a future supervisory role in mind
• Those who are looking for relevant competencies for various roles in their insurance career
• Clerical, Junior Supervisors
• SPM/GCE ‘O’ Level or equivalent
• 1 year or more of insurance industry experience
• or, Diploma or higher

Certification will be awarded by The Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII) upon satisfactory completion of the
programme and passing the DMII examination.
Upon completion of this programme, student may pursue to the next level, The Associateship of The Malaysian
Insurance Institute (AMII), the MII highest qualification.

Self-Study
This programme can also be offered on a self-study mode where assessment will
be based entirely on the final examination.

One subject would require up of three (3) months of preparation that comprises of 42 to 48 lecture hours,
tests, final examination and study break.

Total Credits: 120. A student who enters the Diploma has to achieve the minimum 120 credits threshold to
be awarded the DMII. Inclusive Compulsory Subjects 105 and 109.
*Credits of subject exemptions may be awarded for prior learning by submitting the exemption form with the
necessary supporting documents.
