Principles of risk and risk management<br />

This module provides an introduction to the principles<br />

and concepts of risk and risk management. It explores<br />

the history of risk management to help gain an<br />

understanding of the current drivers of enterprise risk<br />

management, as well as the development and impact<br />

of international standards. The module examines the<br />

ways in which risks are classified, and the models and<br />

frameworks that are commonly utilised to identify,<br />

assess and treat them.<br />

Key topic include:<br />

• The concepts and definitions of risk and risk<br />

management<br />

• Risk management standards<br />

• Enterprise risk management<br />

• Risk assessment, identification, analysis and evalution<br />

• Risk responses and risk treatment<br />

Practice of risk management<br />

This module explores the impact of the global<br />

business environment on risk. It examines issues<br />

relevant to specific sectors and geographical areas,<br />

and the needs and demands of various stakeholder<br />

groups, including regulatory authorities. The<br />

module studies corporate governance and risk<br />

assurance and how these can influence the design<br />

of a risk management programme.<br />

Key topic include:<br />

• An overview of the global business and risk<br />

environment<br />

• Risk architecture, strategy and protocols<br />

• Risk culture, appetite and tolerance<br />

• Risk and organisation, including an introduction<br />

to corporate governance, project and<br />

operation risk management, and supply chain<br />

management<br />

• Organisation risk management, emerging risks<br />

and future developments<br />

All modules are assessed by examination. Module one is assessed by a 90 minutes multiple choice examinations.<br />

Module two is assessed through a combination of short answer and essay style question.<br />

Full Course Fee: RM9,500 (HRDF claimable)<br />

The fee includes tuition fee, examination fee, online study materials and membership to the MII and IRM for<br />

the period of study.<br />

After 50% subsidy by Capacity Building Fund for participants from PIAM and LIAM member<br />

companies: RM4,750<br />
