Road network Rutland Avenue is the main collector<br />

road in the area.<br />

Traffic issues Previous LATM investigations resulted in<br />

installation <strong>of</strong> speed cushions in Rutland<br />

Avenue.<br />

Continuing investigation occurring into<br />

traffic diversion to Strathmore Avenue<br />

and Southerly Avenue.<br />

Traffic options Recent Council recommendation to<br />

install turn prohibitions to address traffic<br />

diversion issue has been implemented.<br />

Monitoring <strong>of</strong> traffic impact <strong>of</strong> the turn<br />

prohibitions is to occur.<br />

Precinct 8 (Lockleys and Underdale)<br />

Background The area was the subject <strong>of</strong> a detailed<br />

LATM traffic study in previous years.<br />

The area was the subject <strong>of</strong> a detailed<br />

traffic investigation for Garden Terrace/<br />

Pierson Street in recent years.<br />

Land use Predominantly residential.<br />

EDS located in Pierson Street.<br />

Lockleys North Primary School and<br />

Underdale High School.<br />

Road network The previous LATM study resulted in<br />

angled slow points and driveway links<br />

installed in a number <strong>of</strong> streets, such as<br />

White Avenue and Autumn Avenue.<br />

Garden Terrace and Pierson Street are<br />

main collector roads in the area.<br />

DTEI recently installed traffic signals at<br />

Pierson Street/Rowells Road.<br />

Traffic issues Excessive traffic movements in the<br />

collector roads.<br />

Speeding and poor driver behaviour.<br />

Traffic options No further action on traffic control<br />

devices in the recent traffic study for<br />

Garden Terrace/Pierson Street.<br />

Minor improvements to intersections<br />

adopted by Council in the recent traffic<br />

study for Garden Terrace/Pierson Street<br />

which are currently being assessed.<br />

Precinct 9 (Underdale and <strong>Torrens</strong>ville)<br />

Background The area was the subject <strong>of</strong> a detailed<br />

LATM traffic study by the previous<br />

Thebarton Council resulting in many<br />

traffic control devices being installed.<br />

Major reconstruction <strong>of</strong> Ashwin Parade<br />

was undertaken in recent years.<br />

The area was the subject <strong>of</strong> detailed<br />

traffic investigations for a number<br />

<strong>of</strong> streets and intersections in recent<br />

years arising from road safety concerns<br />

including Golden Glow Avenue and<br />

Wilford Avenue.<br />

Land use Mix <strong>of</strong> residential and industry land uses<br />

at the northern section.<br />

The District Centre zone is located on<br />

the southern section along Henley<br />

Beach Road.<br />

<strong>Torrens</strong>ville Primary School and<br />

Thebarton College.<br />

Thebarton Oval.<br />

Road network The previous Thebarton Council installed<br />

road closures in Ashley Street, many<br />

roundabouts at local intersections and<br />

angled slow points in Hardys Road.<br />

resulted in turn prohibition in Wilford<br />

Avenue and driveway links in Sheriff<br />

Street and Norman Street.<br />

Ashwin Parade and Ashley Street (Hardys<br />

Road to Holbrooks Road) are main eastwest<br />

collector roads in the area.<br />

Hardys Road is the main north-south<br />

collector road in the area.<br />

Many <strong>of</strong> the streets in the area provide<br />

good east-west and north-south<br />

connectivity and therefore are subject to<br />

through traffic movements.<br />

Traffic issues Speeding and poor driver behaviour.<br />

Excessive traffic volumes.<br />

Traffic options A major review <strong>of</strong> the traffic conditions<br />

would appear to be warranted, given<br />

the long period since an area-wide<br />

assessment was completed for the area.<br />
