Objectives and Setting Criteria<br />
Precinct 10 (Thebarton)<br />
Background The area was the subject <strong>of</strong> a detailed<br />
LATM traffic study by the previous<br />
Thebarton Council which resulted<br />
in many traffic control devices being<br />
installed.<br />
Land use Mix <strong>of</strong> residential, commercial and<br />
industry land uses.<br />
Biotechnology industries located in the<br />
Murray Street precinct.<br />
Road network The previous Thebarton Council installed<br />
many traffic control devices in the area,<br />
including roundabouts and single lane<br />
slow points.<br />
<strong>West</strong> Thebarton Road-Phillips Street and<br />
George Street are the main east-west<br />
collector roads in the area.<br />
Parker Street, Albert Street and Holland<br />
Street are the main north-south collector<br />
roads in the area.<br />
Major roadworks including the Bakewell<br />
underpass and upgrade <strong>of</strong> East Terrace<br />
have recently been completed.<br />
Traffic issues Incidences <strong>of</strong> speeding and poor driver<br />
behaviour.<br />
Traffic options No further action at this stage.<br />
Monitor the traffic conditions in the<br />
area after the completion <strong>of</strong> the major<br />
roadworks.<br />
Precinct 11 (Brooklyn Park)<br />
Background The May Terrace area was the subject <strong>of</strong> a<br />
recent detailed traffic investigations.<br />
Previous investigations include Lipsett<br />
Terrace and Marshall Terrace in conjunction<br />
with the St John Bosco School.<br />
Recent investigations also included the<br />
potential impact <strong>of</strong> the IKEA traffic signals<br />
on the side streets such as Kopurlo<br />
Avenue and Tristania Avenue.<br />
Land use Predominantly residential.<br />
Commercial land uses along the main roads.<br />
Lockleys Primary School and St John<br />
Bosco School.<br />
Major Adelaide Airport developments in<br />
the vicinity <strong>of</strong> the area.<br />
Road network Lipsett Terrace provides the more direct<br />
east-west route in the area.<br />
May Terrace is the major north-south<br />
collector road.<br />
Traffic issues Incidences <strong>of</strong> speeding and poor driver<br />
behaviour.<br />
Concerns about short-cut traffic in some<br />

in many traffic control devices being<br />
installed.<br />
The area was also the subject <strong>of</strong> a<br />
recent LATM study which resulted in<br />
speed cushions being installed in Bagot<br />
Avenue.<br />
Land use Predominantly residential.<br />
Commercial and retail land uses along<br />
the main roads.<br />
The District Centre zone is located on<br />
the northern section along Henley<br />
Beach Road.<br />
Road network Bagot Avenue and Hounslow Avenue<br />
provide the collector road function in the<br />
area.<br />
Traffic issues Incidences <strong>of</strong> speeding and poor driver<br />
behaviour.<br />
Concerns about short-cut traffic in some<br />
streets.<br />
Concerns about excessive traffic<br />
movements.<br />
Traffic options No further action at the present time,<br />
