<strong>Diversity</strong> Quotes: Each One Teach One<br />
Give each student one <strong>Diversity</strong> Quote card. Ask the students<br />
to think about what their quote means <strong>and</strong> then to walk<br />
around the classroom, sharing their quote with as many<br />
people as possible. As they share their quotes they should<br />
look for similarities <strong>and</strong> differences in the thinking on<br />
diversity. When you feel most students have shared most<br />
quotes, then ask the students to return to their places <strong>and</strong><br />
briefly take feedback on:<br />
A quote that really struck a chord with them<br />
Appreciate how diversity<br />
enriches the community<br />
Recognise the benefits <strong>of</strong><br />
diversity to society<br />

A set <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Diversity</strong> Quotes<br />
cards on pages 16 <strong>and</strong> 17,<br />
copied on to card <strong>and</strong> cut up.<br />
A quote that made them question how they thought<br />
A quote that made them curious to know or think more<br />
about how we respond to diversity<br />
Optional<br />
Then ask the students to form groups <strong>of</strong> 4, to choose one<br />
<strong>of</strong> their quotes, <strong>and</strong> to jointly write a word poem or a short<br />
paragraph about this quote <strong>and</strong> what it means to them.<br />
When they have completed this, you could ask them to share<br />
their writing by putting them up around the classroom so<br />
that the students can walk around <strong>and</strong> read what others<br />
have written. The written pieces can be displayed in the long<br />
term or collated <strong>and</strong> copied for each student.<br />
Alternatively this could be done individually as homework<br />
<strong>and</strong> shared at the beginning <strong>of</strong> the next lesson.<br />
